‘Strife’ commissioned for season two after breaking records for Binge
The popular Australian series ‘Strife’ starring Asher Keddie has been given the green light for a second season, after breaking streaming records for Binge.
A second season of the popular Australian series Strife has been green lit.
The Binge original series broke records for the streaming platform, with Foxtel Group announcing it had surpassed Colin From Accounts to become its most successful launch for first day and first week viewing.
And just a few short weeks after its eight-episode debut in December, the crew have headed back to the writer’s room to develop a script for season two.
Starring Asher Keddie as Evelyn Jones, a magazine editor-turned-creator of a start-up women’s website, Strife is loosely based on Mamamia co-founder Mia Freedman’s 2017 memoir, Work Strife Balance.

Produced by entertainment company Made Up Stories (Big Little Lies, Nine Perfect Strangers) in partnership with global film and TV studio FIFTH SEASON, Strife follows Evelyn on her journey from a lounge room blogger to becoming a force to be reckoned with in mainstream media.
But Strife is more of a story about not always having it together, as Evelyn juggles work with being a mother. One scene shows her driving shirtless with only a bra on, and in another, she’s handing out unsliced oranges at her daughter’s hockey game.
Freedman executive produced the series alongside Keddie, Bruna Papandrea, Jodi Matterson and Sarah Scheller.
Foxtel Group content executive director Alison Hurbert-Burns said the show had “hit a chord with viewers across the country”, and was thrilled creatives were already back on deck to continue the story.
“Strife has seen audience growth faster than any other Binge original, breaking records to become our biggest series launch for both first day and first week viewing and I am excited to see the writers, led by Sarah Scheller, back in the writers’ room to work on next season,” Hurbert-Burns said.
