Beloved Aussie actress Teresa Palmer and British star Jim Sturgess are set to star in the new Aussie-Irish drama, Mix Tape.

The BINGE original series began production over the weekend, with filming set to take place at various locations across Sydney and Ireland.

The four-part miniseries is adapted from the critically acclaimed novel of the same name by Jane Sanderson – a story about love and loss, family and friendship, and the power of music.

Palmer and Sturgess – who most recently starred in Alone Again opposite Katie Holmes – will play Alison and Daniel, who were lovestruck teens back in high school.

As adults, they later find themselves living on opposite sides of the world. But a pivotal moment occurs and they once again reconnect, with a song from their past evoking memories and making them wonder if they were meant to be.

Mix Tape is a compelling series, rich in emotion that will transport you back in time through the power of music,” Alison Hurbert-Burns, BINGE Commissioner and Executive Producer, said in a statement.

“Aquarius Films and Subotica have secured outstanding cast led by Teresa and Jim, who along with some of the finest creatives will deliver a story we can’t wait for our audiences to see.”

The commission will be an international co-production venture between the Foxtel Group, Aussie production house Aquarius Films, and one of Ireland’s top production firms, Subotica.

“From the moment we read Jane Sanderson’s novel we all knew that we just had to adapt this gorgeous grown-up love story for the screen,” Aquarius Films and Subotica added in the statement.

Mix Tape asks the age-old question, ‘What if you had a second chance with your first love?’ and walks us back down memory lane to revisit the innocence of teenage passions – against a banging soundtrack!

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with BINGE/Foxtel to bring this project to audiences and couldn’t be more excited about the fantastic cast we’ve assembled.”
