You’ve probably read a fair bit about the documentary film Framing Britney Spears in recent weeks. Watching it, however, has been an altogether trickier proposition – at least for those of us in Australia.
Not only does it examine Spears’ bizarre “conservatorship” arrangement, which has seen her father control her life and finances for 13 years, it also examines her treatment at the hands of the tabloid press and gives new insight into her final bizarre public appearance in 2018, before she retreated from the public eye to her remote Californian mansion.

Spears is reportedly “emotional” but “hopeful” after watching parts of the documentary that has the world so worried about her wellbeing.
“Britney finally feels like there is light at the end of a very long, dark tunnel,” a source close to the star told Page Six.
“There are parts of the film that were too hard and emotional for her to watch – the scenes that describe the most difficult times of her life, the relentless media circus and the harsh focus on her as a young mother.
“But, she feels, for the first time in many years, that people are on her side and things will get better for her.
“She hopes that, because of this, she will be finally be freed from the vice-like grip of her father (Jamie Spears). She is also very grateful and humbled by the public outcry, all the support from her fans and the celebrities like Sarah Jessica Parker who have spoken out on her behalf.”
In fact, Page Six reports Spears is quietly working on a documentary about her life, told in her own words, alongside a “top female filmmaker.”
