Bridgerton fans offered first look at highly-anticipated season four
It’s one of Netflix’s most popular shows – and while the next season is still in production, fans have been given major clues about what’s coming.
IN LONDON
Dearest Gentle Readers, it’s time to start gearing up for the next Bridgerton romance.
Just months on from the Polin (Penelope and Colin) love story of season three, Netflix has delivered fans their first proper look into season four, which is currently being filmed in England.
As in the books by Julia Quinn, the plot will focus on charming rogue Benedict Bridgerton (played by Luke Thompson), who has – so far – been committed to not settling down.
Per the season four logline: “Despite his elder and younger brothers both being happily married, Benedict is loath to settle down — until he meets a captivating Lady in Silver at his mother’s masquerade ball.”
It was announced last year that Benedict’s love interest, the Lady in Silver – aka Sophie Baek – had finally been cast, with Australian actress Yerin Ha taking on the role.
“Sophie Baek has been forced to spend much of her life working as a maid for the most demanding employer in the ton,” a press release at the time said.
“But the resourceful Sophie always finds a way to persevere through her circumstances — which will drastically change after she disguises herself to attend Violet Bridgerton’s masquerade ball and meets Benedict Bridgerton.”
Thompson and Ha made their red carpet debut at a “Season of Love”-themed Bridgerton event in London recently, where they were joined by co-stars Golda Rosheuvel and Hugo Sachs along with series showrunner Jess Brownell.
During the panel, Thompson opened up for the first time about the “dynamite” scripts they’re currently in the midst of bringing to life.
“The scripts that [showrunner] Jess [Brownell] and her team have come up with are dynamite. They’re really, really, really exciting,” he said.
“The storyline is a bit of a twist on ‘Cinderella.’ You remember being told those stories as a child — the magic and the romance of them.
“It’s really exciting to have that weaved into the world that we know of Bridgerton … It’s such a great story, but it’s also, I hope, really relatable.”
Brownell also teased fans about what pop music would be getting the iconic Bridgerton treatment in season four, saying that “there’s always probably gonna be a Taylor Swift cover”.
Dedicated readers of the book series will also be thrilled to hear that the showrunner also described season four as the “most faithful” to the original story.
Bridgerton season four, which is currently in production, has not yet been given a release date – but it’s widely expected to premiere in 2026.
