Asher Keddie gearing up to play media mogul Mia Freedman as new drama Strife gets release date

The premiere date for the highly anticipated Aussie drama is released, which means Asher Keddie is back on our screens.

The premiere date for the highly anticipated BINGE original series, Strife, has been revealed.

The new series marks Asher Keddie’s return to television, after her stints on Nine Perfect Strangers and The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart.

In a special Foxtel Upfronts event held in Sydney on Thursday evening, it was announced Keddie will grace screens again on December 6, when Strife premieres on BINGE, with all 8 episodes dropping at once.

The series also features a mix of established and up-and-coming stars, including Matt Day, Jonathan LaPaglia, Tina Bursill, Emma Lung, Rhys Mitchell, BeBe Bettencourt, Lucy Ansell and Willow Speers.

Strife is loosely based on media mogul Mia Freedman’s 2017 memoir titled Work, Strife, Balance.

Adapted into a comedy-drama by Foxtel Group, in partnership with Bruna Papandrea’s production company Made Up Stories, the series tells the story of a former magazine editor named Evelyn Jones (Keddie) and tracks her journey from loungeroom blogger to digital media force with her website Eve.

“The show is about ambition,” Keddie – who is much-loved for her roles in Offspring and Love My Way – said in an interview with Marie Claire last week.

“I’m not playing Mia, but a woman we’ve created. I’m hoping it’s relatable to women in their forties who find themselves feeling as if they want to do more and want to offer more.

“I very consciously made sure we exposed her [Evelyn’s] private victories and failures as much as we do the public ones. I wanted the audience to go on a journey with me, not watch me go through it.”

Both Keddie and Freedman are executive producers on the show alongside Papandrea, Jodi Matterson, Steve Hutensky, Sarah Scheller, BINGE’s Alison Hurbert-Burns and late Foxtel boss Brian Walsh.

“The Foxtel Group has a long history of bringing critically acclaimed Australian stories to the screen and we remain a committed champion for local, groundbreaking stories and voices in all genres,” said Amanda Laing, Chief Content & Commercial Officer, Foxtel Group & Managing Director BINGE.
