Gold Logie winner Asher Keddie has signed on to front a new local series inspired by Mia Freedman’s memoir.

The 48-year-old actress will play the lead role of Evelyn Jones in comedic drama Strife, a new commission by The Foxtel Group* from Australian producer Bruna Papandrea’s production company, Made Up Stories.

Foxtel announced the upcoming series at its upfronts in Sydney Thursday night, where the cable company unveiled its programming line-up for 2023.

The series, which is set in the “ever-changing world of publishing during the emerging digital age”, is based around Freedman’s book Work, Strife, Balance.

It begins production next year.

Strife tells the story of a modern, imperfect woman and publisher named Evelyn Jones (Keddie), and her journey from lounge room blogger to becoming a force in women’s media,” a press release reads.

Binge Executive Director Alison Hurbert-Burns, added: “We are thrilled to be partnering with such a formidable force in Bruna Papandrea and Made Up Stories – a production company that champions women on and off screen throughout the world, the incredible Asher Keddie, and of course Mia Freedman, who has been a strong inspiration for this series.

Strife is a story full of heart, and plenty of humour, and we can’t wait to bring it to Binge viewers.”
