‘Sorry, can we start again?’: News reporter flubs intro on The Project
SOMEONE seems to be getting distracted in the editing booths at The Project. This cross started fine, but quickly unravelled.
SOMEONE seems to be getting distracted in the editing booths at The Project, with a second flub slipping past producers in less than a week.
On Wednesday night’s show, the panel crossed to Ten Eyewitness News reporter Daniel Sutton to discuss developments in the Sydney siege inquest.
While the cross was set up as live, an awkward slip-up made it clear it was prerecorded — and someone didn’t read the edit notes.
“Dan, a tough day for both survivors. What did Selina reveal about Tori?” Bickmore asked, throwing to Sutton.
“Well it was ... ah ... Sorry, one second ... Ah ... I think Selina’s actually revealed ...” Sutton stumbled as he looked down. He then caught his train of thought.
“Oh, yeah she did reveal that about Tori! Sorry. I apologise guys. Go for it again.”
“No that’s OK, I’ll do it again,” Bickmore said.
Before Bickmore began her intro again, a producer could be heard in the background counting down, saying, “In three, two ...”
After the prerecorded interview played out, the camera cut back to Bickmore live at the desk who swiftly concluded, “That was Dan Sutton from earlier this evening,” before rolling into more headlines.
It’s the second editing blunder to happen in a week for The Project.
Last week, the program played a prerecorded interview with musician Noel Gallagher and accidentally forgot to bleep one of his f-bombs. The following night, the show suffered a major technical issue that lasted half an hour and left the hosts stranded with no content to play.
