ADRIANO Zumbo’s new TV show featured some amazing dishes during its premiere episode last night but the reactions online were nowhere near as sweet.
ZUMBO’S Just Desserts featured some amazing dishes but the reactions online were nowhere near as sweet.
The Channel Seven show debuted last night with celebrated patissier Adriano Zumbo and British chef Rachel Khoo putting 12 contestants to the test.
But viewers clearly wished they’d skipped dessert as they took to Twitter to roast the show they accused of being a “MasterChef ripoff”.
#JustDessertsAU A masterchef ripoff, OK I can live with that. But #Zumbo has zero personality, & home cooks are weird. #disappointingTV

Sheer, unadulterated hell. & that was just the weeks of trailers. The show is actually much worse. #JustDessertsAU

Words to describe #JustDessertsAU drab, drudging, dull, flat, ho hum, insipid, irksome, lifeless, monotonous, mundane, uninteresting, vapid

#JustDessertsAU @RachelKhoo is doing more for this show than Zumbo! I think the show needs renaming ð

Were all the contestants given an Xanax prior to the show? The pace is putting me to sleep. #JustDessertsAU

It has to be said #JustDessertsAU is fairly terrible. Such high hopes, such disappointment

#JustDessertsAU, a concept that had so much promise has proven to be nothing more than a 60min #woolies commercial. You've messed up Ch 7!

Achingly boring - sweeter than a half sucked toffee apple - I think I'll crank up the microwave and watch it turn around #JustDessertsAU

Playing catchup on #JustDessertsAU. Love Zumbo but think @Seven have screwed this one up. From voiceover to co-host, it's not working. ð¢

Not all of reactions were negative though, with some fans taking to Twitter to praise the show and vowing they’ll tune in again.
Loved #JustDessertsAU tonight. Not sure what was more impressive - the desserts or @rkhooks keeping her gorgeous dress clean of chocolate ðð

Recruitment consultant Wendy, 39, was the first contestant booted from the show last night after she scored just 6/20 when trying to replicate one of Zumbo’s extravagant desserts.
The eventual winner will take home $100,000 and will have their dessert featured in Zumbo’s stores.
It was panned on social media, but plenty tuned in to the launch of Zumbo’s Just Desserts;
Metropolitan (five city) figures saw 1.08 million viewers watch Zumbo’s, the third most popular show of the night.
The Block dipped from its debut on Sunday night of 1.07 million to 961,000 last night and was the seventh most-watched show.
And Australian Survivor dropped 50,000 viewers to 734,000 at its second outing, and was the 14th most-watched show of the night.
Zumbo’s Just Desserts continues tonight at 7.30pm. Let us know what you thought of the show in the comments section below.
