Now, its return has brought along a bunch of familiar faces who will be competing throughout a series of tasks to raise money for a charity of their choosing.

With 73-year-old British billionaire Lord Alan Sugar replacing Australian businessman Mark Bouris as CEO, he will have fashion designer Lorna Jane Clarkson and Boost Juice pioneer Janine Allis by his side to see each celebrity through their tasks, and to guide him on who he should fire.

Celebrity Apprentice Australia has commenced filming, with Lord Sugar tweeting back in September that he had flown into Sydney with Emirates, later leading to some criticism as he was able to fly through the Australian border restrictions, while other Australians had to remain overseas, stranded during the pandemic.

The show was announced at the Nine Upfront 2021, where the company announced that Celebrity Apprentice Australia is back on Nine in 2021, with a huge shake-up.

The show’s celebrity advisers, Allis and Clarkson, appeared on Today this morning and spoke to hosts Ally Langdon and Karl Stefanovic about what viewers can expect this year.

“It’s been completely different for me especially because I don’t have much experience on television,” Clarkson revealed of her new role.

“But we’re having a great time,” she added.

“It’s all about the people!” Allis added, “and Lord Sugar is just incredible. One of the most successful businessmen in the UK, and I’ll tell you now, he says it like it is.”

The advisers also told the Today hosts how the show will be different this year.

“It is absolutely so different than ever before, there are so many twists and turns – even Janine and I were surprised,” Clarkson revealed.

“The celebrities of course are amazing, but you really see an intimate side to them, don’t you? You really see how hardworking they are, and how committed they are to work for their charities.”

“And their competitive spirit – oh my God!” Allis added.

“There are some incredible people, and they’re not necessarily all businessmen, but they have some serious acumen. I’m very impressed, because they really are so passionate about their charities.”

Stefanovic also asked what it was like filming the new season with COVID-19 restrictions, as well as how much the pandemic has affected businesses which could reflect in the challenges.

“We’ve had a really crap year,” Allis responded, “and now it’s time to ask what we can do and look at some really great idea. We’ve got lots of experience between each other.”

Celebrity Apprentice Australia will air on Channel 9 and 9Now in 2021.
