The Block star Leah reveals brutal fallout of on-air confrontation with Kristy

The Block contestants Leah and Kristy’s friendship fell apart on camera – leading to a rift that’s “affected the rest” of the show.

The simmering tensions between The Block couples Leah and Ash and Kristy and Brett came to a head in Monday’s episode of the show, seemingly ending their friendship for good.

Over the past week, viewers have watched as Leah has grappled with the behaviour of her Block bestie Kristy.

During Monday’s episode, she finally confronted her – and it was not well received.

Taking some ownership for their own role in whipping up negative attitudes about the other three teams on The Block, Leah told her friends that they had “crossed the line”, “made people upset” and that it was time for a change. She suggested they go and make amends with sisters Eliza and Liberty, who they’ve had the most conflict with on The Block.

Leah initiates a difficult conversation.

But Kristy and Brett hit back, Kristy telling Leah she was “offended” to be copping a lecture from her friend about her supposed bad behaviour.

The two couples left the tense meeting on bad terms – and in an exclusive interview with news.com.au last week – Leah and Ash revealed that the rift has not mended since.

Leah said that Kristy and Brett doubling down on their behaviour had “shocked” her.

“I hoped we’d go in there, I’d take responsibility for what I said, tell them ‘this is getting really toxic, let’s take some time to reflect.’ But when they did double down, it was just that last straw: This friendship is going nowhere,” she told news.com.au.

Kristy was clearly not happy.

“That’s not how we live our lives – if we make a mistake, we own it and we try to do better. It was mind-blowing to me that they couldn’t see something from a different perspective and try to take that on.”

And Leah also disputed one rumour she’s heard about what’s still to come on the show, flatly denying that she and her husband ever “realign” with their former friends later on in the season.

“I don’t want to give things away, but this affected the rest of my experience on The Block. Some serious, deep issues went on. At the moment, most of the cast are trying to stay very positive and professional. But there is absolutely no realigning with them.”

And while Kristy and Brett refused the suggestion to make peace with Eliza and Liberty, they may soon be forced to: The two teams were the joint winners of this week’s room reveal, with a night away together revealed as part of their prize.
