The Block’s Eliza and Liberty reveal ‘toxic’ post-show run-in with Kristy and Brett

Eliza and Liberty have revealed they had a “toxic” run-in with ‘villains’ Kristy and Brett this week, where the warring couples exchanged heated words.

The Block favourites Eliza and Liberty have revealed an awkward post-show run-in with this season’s ‘villains’ Kristy and Brett.

While their rivalries are only just playing out onscreen this week, the couples haven’t been on-set of the Channel 9 renovation series for a few weeks now.

But the Melbourne sister duo, who had their first explosive confrontation with married couple Kristy and Brett on last Sunday’s The Block, ran into the pair at an event last weekend for the first time since filming wrapped.

They told Hit Network’s Fifi, Fev & Nick the encounter was “awkward” and “really toxic”.

“It’s really toxic, it’s so bad. We saw each other on the weekend … Had to be in the same room which was interesting,” Eliza said.

Eliza continued: “She [Kristy] said to me, ‘Oh maybe you shouldn’t have gone on reality TV, maybe you’re not cut out for it’. Which, I kinda think I’m perfect for reality TV because I have real emotions.

“They’re coming on national TV [to do interviews] and saying ‘It was all a game show to us, everyone knew we were playing games, it was all lighthearted and fun and funny.’ But I’m like, ‘You’re the only one laughing.’

“I just want to make it very clear that the people you’re seeing on the show are the people they are in real life. We’ve actually been told it’s been pared back for television.

“It’s really gross to us, and [it’s] challenging us morally and ethically now off the show more than ever.”

The cast are all set to reunite for the live auctions in early November, which will air as the finale episode the day after its filmed.

Liberty said she would have a hard time accepting it if Kristy and Brett were to win and make a significant amount of money.

“We have said we’re gonna have to get therapy,” she said.

“If that happens, it’s almost a reward for bad behaviour, and we need justice.

“I will not be hugging. I’m not gonna be fake. We’re not gonna align with people who don’t morally and ethically align to us.”

The two also claimed despite Leah and Ash distancing themselves from Kristy and Brett on the show this week, the former friends’ had since “realigned” in the aftermath.

However, Leah and Ash refuted this in an interview with news.com.au on Friday.

“There is absolutely no realigning [with Kristy and Brett]. It’s not fair that that rumour sparked up when no-one has the facts,” Leah said.

In the next episode of The Block, airing Monday, Leah and Ash finally directly confront Kristy and Brett about their behaviour, which doesn’t go well.

While the 2023 season started off relatively drama-free, Kristy and Brett’s eyebrow-raising attitude has begun to paint a very different picture of the couple, particularly over the last week.

Tensions escalated Sunday night when Kristy lashed out at kitchen week winners Eliza and Liberty, in what she felt was the girls benefiting from “special treatment”.

A usually calm Eliza hit back, arguing what Kristy perceived as “special treatment” was really just her being “kind to people, so they’re kind back to me.”

On Tuesday night’s episode, Leah was in tears after having a conversation with Eliza, who told the mother-of-two she was going to be guilty by association due to Kristy’s inevitable negative edit.

“People don’t want to work for them any longer, sparkies, plumbers …” Eliza said to Leah.

“The crew hates being around them … They made four crew cry. They’re constantly told to apologise so that trades will show up.”
