Fans of a popular renovation show have complained to media authorities over growing concerns about one issue between contestants.

Fans of Nine’s long-running home renovation show The Block have complained to media authorities over growing concerns contestants are bullying each other.

The Australian Communications and Media Authority has received 28 reports regarding the 2023 season of The Block – now in its 19th season.

“The majority of the contacts related to allegations of bullying, harassment and promotion of anti-social behaviour between contestants,” an ACMA spokesman said.

Taking to social media, many fans shared their frustration about the latest episode and the drama involving contestants Kristy Beams and Leah Milton.

“The Kristy and Leah show. What a waste of airtime,” one fan wrote.

“More renovation, less drama for ratings thanks,” another said.

The Block continues to drop in the ratings.

One fan said Ms Milton had showed her “true colours” in the episode and should accept that she’s “a mean girl and that is all you have to offer on this TV show”.

“All we’re going to see is about these two going at each other! Come on, the show shouldn’t be this crap,” another wrote.

Nine has 60 days to respond to the complaints.

“Under the broadcasting co-regulatory system, complainants are directed to the broadcaster in the first instance,” the ACMA spokesman said.

“If a complainant does not receive a response from the broadcaster within 60 days or is not satisfied with the response they do receive, they may refer their complaint to the ACMA for consideration.”

The Block came second in the September 19 ratings with 526,000 metro viewers – a 20 per cent drop in viewership from last year.
