One of this season’s most controversial Block contestants has been made to apologise to the show’s crew on camera following an unacceptable outburst.

Brett, who is competing on the show alongside his wife Kristy, was shown blowing off steam at the crew in Wednesday’s episode as they filmed him during yet another early morning start.

Camera “wake-ups” are a common feature of life on The Block, with cameras entering bedrooms to film bleary-eyed contestants as they wake up before dawn to get to work.

But Brett had apparently had enough of the televised early starts, and lashed out at the crew who were tailing him as he started his day.

“Leave me alone,” he told them – with one female crew member heard pointing out that the crew “do it to everyone” and aren’t picking on him.

“I’m trying to find some f**king space from you. Every morning! Go harrass someone else, for f**k’s sake,” he spat. “Leave me the f**k alone. I’m sick of it. Do you ever stop?”

“No … it’s my job,” another crew member reasoned.

After complaining about the treatment in a to-camera interview, Brett was asked by a producer if surely he knew on-camera wake-ups would be a part of The Block, now in its 19th season.

“I didn’t, and I didn’t expect it to be every day,” he said, insisting that he hadn’t watched the show “much” before appearing as a contestant.

Later on in the day, The Block’s foreman Dan approached Brett to tell him his earlier outburst was unacceptable, and he owed the crew an apology for his behaviour.

“I can’t even have two minutes to myself. It’s been every morning this week – I’ve been woken up every day, tired, with a lot on, and I just f**king lost my cool a bit,” Brett explained.

“Well, we just can’t have that with the crew. They’re just doing their job – when you get a chance, go apologise,” Dan ordered.

Brett was then shown apologising to one of the crew members, conceding that it had been “very disrespectful” of him to lash out.

“The thing is, I get it,” the crew member told him.

“Sometimes it’s too much – but don’t talk like that. I don’t talk to you like that. If you’d have just said, ‘Mate, I’m in a foul mood, just give me 10 minutes,’ we would have,” he insisted.

The on-camera confrontation comes as Brett and wife Kristy emerge as perhaps this season’s controversial contestants, with their wild conspiracy theories about other contestants and their pride in playing “mind games” with their rivals on the show.

“We’re not villains, we’re pot stirrers,” Kristy insisted in a recent TV Week interview.
