‘F**king privilege’: Block contestants slam Nine on camera

Two of this year’s Block contestants have turned on Nine, accusing the network of an elaborate conspiracy on camera.

Tempers flared in Sunday’s episode of The Block as one team accused the show’s producers of conspiring against them on camera, labelling another of the teams an “industry plant.”

The stoush was sparked when The Block’s foreman Dan offered to help sisters Eliza and Liberty, this year’s least experienced renovators, by driving an exhausted Liberty around while she did her styling shopping.

He rocked up in character as an Italian chauffer named Danielo – the sort of slightly cheesy stunt occasionally employed by a show that has to fill more than five hours of television per week.

Adopting a thick Italian accent and wearing a stick-on moustache, Dan was shown driving Liberty on a shopping expedition to several stores, staying in character the whole time.

Fellow contestants Leah and Kristy were then heard complaining about the stunt, saying it’s evidence of special treatment for Liberty and Eliza in house five.

Kristy and husband Brett took their complaints to camera, fuming over Dan helping out the other team.

“They literally get gifted everything, every week. I don’t know how they’ve blown out their budget, because they get given money every single day of the week,” Kristy said.

Earlier in the week, with Eliza and Liberty falling “ridiculously” far behind, host Scott Cam offered up his team of builders to give them a hand. Before that, he’d given them a special $500 award for being the “most improved” team.

Cue the conspiracy theory from Kristy and Brett.

“They get everything handed to them on a silver platter. ‘You woke up this morning! Here’s $500,’” Kristy fumed.

“You know what? We’ll get a handout every f**king day of the week, then we’ll be sweet,” Kristy told the producers, as she stormed off-camera.

“What’s that in reference to?” a producer named Steve could be heard asking.
“We’re going to get handouts like f**king ‘Nine Privilege’ down there, the industry plant. They get fed money constantly. House five are Nine Privelige, come on,” said Brett.

“Are you serious?” the producer asked. “Dude, you are so far off the mark. “Everything’s dished out fairly here … there’s no conspiracy at play.”

But Brett tells him he “doesn’t need the reassurance,” as the couple are already convinced: “If it’s how we feel, this is how we feel.”
