The Bachelorette’s Brooke Blurton has opened up about her new career, two years after starring in the reality TV series.

Blurton, 28, who first found fame as a contestant on Nick “Honey Badger” Cummins’ season in 2018, revealed in an interview with Stellar magazine that she is now studying to become a marriage celebrant after having “failed at falling in love” herself.

“I will just marry people instead,” the queer, First Nations reality star told Stellar.

“I was the maid of honour for five different queer couples. I was helping them with their wedding, and we decided that if I was to get my marriage celebrant’s license, then I could actually marry them. And we’re hoping for Mardi Gras next year [to] have this underway.”

Blurton found love with her Bachelorette winner David Garayeli, but the couple announced their shock split shortly after the finale aired.

After stunning viewers by quitting The Bachelor in 2018 despite making it to the final three, she went on to continue her quest for love on Bachelor in Paradise a year later, where she shared a brief fling with co-star Alex Nation.

But Blurton insisted that despite her on-screen heartbreaks, she’s still “a sucker for love”.

“When people are in love, it’s not always happy – I get that. But there’s such a raw happiness within it. Maybe I’m just addicted to that.”

The former youth worker has had a successful media career since first bursting onto our screens, and published a memoir telling her story late last year.

Blurton is now also working on “fiction for young teens” and told Stellar she “recently landed a role in an Australian film” that will begin production later this year.

She’s spoken previously about her frustration with her most recent reality TV gig, Ten’s The Challenge Australia, telling Yahoo Lifestyle that too much focus had been on the drama rather than the actual competition.

“I wanted to do The Challenge to do The Challenge,” she told the publication.

“I didn’t go to do The Bachelor again or do a remake of Bachelor In Paradise; that’s not what I came for.

“I had just finished writing my book and I wanted to reclaim who Brooke Blurton was, so I didn’t want to be affiliated with them.

“I got dragged into it so many times, but I made a conscious effort and a conscious decision that I wanted to go into The Challenge just being Brooke Blurton, not Brooke Blurton from The Bachelorette.”
