After being brutally dumped over FaceTime by Bachelorette winner Pete Mann, Becky reveals she’s reconnected with runner-up Adrian, and the two have “great communication”.

The Bachelorette: Becky Miles reveals she’s been messaging Adrian Baena

Becky Miles may have chosen Pete Mann in last night’s Bachelorette finale – but after the Adelaide cafe owner broke things off, she reconnected with the runner-up Adrian Baena.

Speaking to news.com.au today, the 30-year-old Newcastle local said they’ve been regularly messaging since, and have even had a heartfelt conversation about their feelings for each other.

Revealing they’re probably “just friends” (for now) Becky went on to say Adrian was hurt by her choosing Pete, so “things are different” between them.

It comes shortly after Becky shared the brutal details of her split from Pete, who dumped her over FaceTime as soon as he arrived home from filming The Bachelorette.

Opening up about the shock split, she said she was “disappointed” in Pete for not giving it a go, and feels like she “hasn't had closure”.

“I am disappointed … It’s hard to know how to feel. I am confused about why he didn’t want to give it a go, he just seemed to have made his mind up,” Becky said.

“I was really looking forward to introducing him to my family and showing him Newcastle and going and visiting Adelaide and seeing where things would take us,” she added.

Asked about whether he gave her any inkling he wasn’t feeling a spark in the days after filming, Becky said he was “saying all the right things”.

“He was saying things like ‘I’m glad you chose me’ and ‘I’m going to miss you’, so I left that feeling really hopeful. About three days afterwards when he was back in Adelaide he just said he didn’t feel that there was a spark there, and that he didn’t think he was the guy for me.”

She went on to say she’s wondered why Pete, who was married to Adelaide Network Ten weather presenter Kate Freebairn until last year, decided to go on the show in the first place.

“I definitely had those questions,” she said, revealing he has texted her this week to explain why he broke things off.

“I was like, ‘If you’re not emotionally available why go and pursue a relationship, especially on a reality TV show?’ … What I learnt from Pete was that he was having some concerns that he didn’t voice.

“I feel like he wasn’t completely transparent with his feelings while on the show, but I don’t think he is a malicious person, I still think he’s a kind person, I just don’t think he was very sure of his feelings.”

She added: “I was hoping that when the experience was over and we had time to ourselves, he’d be able to let go and we’d be able to connect on that deeper level but, yeah.”

Becky isn’t letting the situation get her down, revealing that she’s still “open to finding love”.

While she isn’t delving into the world of online dating – or keen to have another crack at reality TV love (she answered “God no” to both) – she did reveal she’s been chatting with Adrian Baena, and hinted the door might not be completely closed between them.

“When Pete broke things off, I reconnected with Adrian. We’ve been talking and messaging, there’s a lot of care there for each other, he’s such a great guy.

“He’s always checking in on me, he gave me a call last night because we were both a bit emotional. We’ve just got really great communication.”

“I think we’re just going to be friends,” she was quick to add.

Opening up about where things are at with the pair, she hinted it was Adrian who wasn’t ready to pursue things romantically. “I don’t know, I think it’s really hard because when I chose Pete I put all my heart and all my all my eggs in Pete’s basket … so Adrian took a step back because he was really hurt,” Becky said.

“We’ve talked about how we feel about each other and it’s just not the same. So I think it’s going to be friends with us for now.”
