How Timm won everyone’s hearts with his response to brutal dumping

It was the Bachelorette ending that left Angie in tears and viewers outraged. But there was nothing but praise for the guy at the centre of the drama.

Not since Matty J doubled over and fell to his knees in front of Georgia Love has a man been so publicly crushed on national television.

There’s no doubt about it: Australia was #TeamTimm throughout Thursday’s Bachelorette finale, with Twitter ablaze with love for the long-haired larrikin during the episode.

The adoration was only made stronger by his gracious response to Angie’s choice to be with Carlin, prompting an outpouring of supportive messages for the Melbourne fireproofer.

After hearing the final verdict, Timm admitted that as he approached the reality star in the final moments of the finale, he “could see in her eyes” there was a “but” coming in her rejection speech.

And he handled it like an absolute champion.

“You were such a surprise,” Angie began. “You’re the person who makes me laugh all the time and I feel like you’re my soulmate. I do. I love so much about you. I love everything that we’ve had and a piece of me is, like, I can’t picture my life without you/

“But I think a part of me …,” she trailed off unable to go on and falling into Timm’s chest crying.

“I’ve cherished every moment with you. I love Carlin,” he said. “If I could pick anyone to put you with it’s him … don’t be sad.”

“I got you this…,” he said, pulling out the ring the winner is supposed to gift Angie and sliding it on her finger, thanked her for the time they’d had together.

As he walked away, doubled over and gripping his face, he said: “F**k. F**k. That sucks, I can’t even understand it. She was my soulmate. But I knew … I was just waiting for the ‘but’. I could see it in her eyes. I knew straight away when I looked at her. That’s why I had my walls up – for that exact reason. That’s why I didn’t want to go all in – this exact feeling right now is why I didn’t want to go all in. I’m never talking about my feelings ever again.”

The only silver lining from the whole, emotional ordeal is we may not have seen the last of Timm.
