Gogglebox star Angie Kent confirmed as new Bachelorette

She became a fan favourite on reality TV earlier this year. Now, the 29-year-old is returning to our screens to look for love.

Australia, meet your new Bachelorette.

Network 10 have confirmed former Gogglebox star Angie Kent will be looking for love on the reality show.

“I’ve always been the girl who loves to make everyone laugh, but now I reckon it’s time to have someone to laugh with me, rather than at me,” Angie said in a statement.

“I’m at a place now where I have loads of self-love, but I’m also open to all of life’s amazing possibilities.

“So, if 20 or so fellas want to join me, have a laugh and potentially be my perfect partner in life and love — I say — let’s give it a red hot go!”

Angie became a household name after starring on Gogglebox alongside best friend and housemate, Yvie Jones.

She made the leap onto reality TV earlier this year, competing on I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! alongside Yvie, with the two proving a hit with viewers.

Angie finished in the top five before being eliminated alongside Luke Jacobz and revealed in an exit interview she would be open to returning to TV to look for love.

“I always said, ‘God no’, but you know what, I think after having more time on television now and being on the other side of the couch … I reckon I could be an alright Bachelorette,” she told Yahoo.

“I’m definitely open to finding somebody. I just turned 29 so home girl’s not getting any younger, so for sure.”

Yvie also backed Angie as this year’s Bachelorette, previously telling Studio 10 it would be unmissable television — as long as she was allowed to make an appearance as well.

“I think it should happen,” Yvie said.

“But — you heard it here first — I think we should have a Bachelorette with me as a wingwoman … I just think Angie would be the best Bachelorette because she really doesn’t do intimacy well, and I think a man would lean in to have a little (kiss), and she’d just go, ‘pull my finger.’”

“I think it would be the most brilliant Bachelorette you’ve ever seen, with me making all the decisions.”

Angie will be the franchise’s second celebrity Bachelorette, with Sophie Monk previously joining the show to look for love in 2017.

The Bachelorette will air on Network 10 later this year.
