Elly Miles hits back at rumours surrounding why she became The Bachelorette

Elly Miles has spoken out about rumours claiming that she only became The Bachelorette so she could become famous.

The Bachelorette 2020 Episode 4 Recap: The bachelor that got the boot

The Bachelorette Elly Miles has had enough of people assuming that she and her sister Becky took on the role “for fame.”

Chatting to host Osher Günsberg on his Better Than Yesterday podcast on Tuesday, the reality star hit back at the relentless rumours.

“It’s nonsense. We’re just two chicks from the country, and the most important thing to us is just to live a happy life. From our background and the way we grew up, that truly is the most important thing,” she said.

“Money isn’t important to us, fame isn’t important to us. We can only speak for ourselves in that respect, because I think there probably are people that come on to it for profile. But for us, it’s not the case at all.”

It comes after former Bachelor contestant from Elly’s season, Rachael Arahill, had some interesting things to say about Elly.

While chatting on Megan Pustetto’s So Dramatic! podcast, the reality star claimed that Elly only went on The Bachelor – where she met Matt Agnew – to be The Bachelorette.

“I was not surprised at all because I know she wanted it. I’m pretty sure she went on The Bachelor to get The Bachelorette,” Rachael said.

However, Rachael then questioned whether or not Elly would get the role, as she never appeared on Bache lor In Paradise, which was apparently a prerequisite to become The Bachelorette.

“One time … the night Kristen left, which was the night after Elly left, we were all at Emma’s, and they were talking about BIP [Bachelor In Paradise] and who was going to go on BIP, and Elly was like, ‘Oh well Tim [a Ten publicist] said that I won’t ever be able to get Bachelorette if I don’t go on BIP.’

“You have to do your time in paradise before you get Bachelorette, but she didn’t do Paradise …” Rachael mused.

Megan then explained the situation.

“What happened was the original Sharna Burgess pulled out because of COVID she was stuck in LA.

“They were like sh*t we have no one so they were like fine we will give it to you Elly, and then they dragged her sister along to add some spice.”

Rachael agreed, “Well she’s not that interesting, no offence Elly but your story will only go on for f***ing 10 minutes.”

When Megan asked if she was friends with Elly after those comments, Rachael admitted she wasn’t, and had only remained friends with the 2019 winner Chelsie McLeod, Jess Brody, Abbie Chatfield, Renee Barrett and her ex, Vakoo Kauapirura.

Meanwhile, Elly, 25, and Becky, 30, had a chat with news.com.au, opening up about their joint journey to find love.

“I feel like it’s going to be a really wholesome watch this year,” Elly said.

“We’re not drama girls,” she added, going on to explain: “We were very open with the guys in saying that we’re not here to battle it out for the guy, we don’t want that kind of drama that’s not what we’re here for.

“We’re here to find love, we’re here to support each other on that journey and if you guys can be open and honest with us that’s going to make things a lot clearer for us,” she said, adding: “It was really beautiful, we’re very proud to say we were completely ourselves.”

While the premise of this shock new season sounds like it could lead to fiery arguments between the pair, who will select potential partners from the same pool of contestants, they said the experience actually brought them closer together.

“We want the best for each other, and we both want each other to end up with an amazing guy and we’re so supportive of each other and always have been,” Elly said.

“There was never a concern for us about whether we’d fight over guys because we have too much respect for each other to ever allow that to happen. It’s sort of an automatic response that if Becky is into someone they’re in the brother basket.”
