Bachelorette winner Carlin Sterritt slammed for ‘disgusting’ toilet paper video

A graphic video of The Bachelorette’s Carlin Sterritt reaching the end of a roll of toilet paper has prompted outrage on social media.

With people around the globe cooped up inside self-isolating amid the coronavirus pandemic, stars have taken to making light of the situation on their social media accounts usually to the delight of their thousands of followers.

But for Bachelorette winner Carlin Sterritt, a joke about the nationwide toilet paper panic has gone awry.

Posting a Tik Tok video to Instagram, the reality star who won the heart of Angie Kent last year made a disturbingly realistic video of him running out of loo roll while sitting on the toilet, complete with a close-up shot of a soiled hand.

While Carlin assured followers it was “chocolate ice cream”, the move lost him a bunch of followers who were “disappointed” by the unnecessarily graphic video.

The over-the-top video prompted a furious response from some followers, who direct-messaged the star to express their disappointment.

“That is disgusting, UNFOLLOWING NOW!!!,” one wrote.

“Yep, it was so unnecessary, you are better than that,” another said, while one more simply said “STOP THIS NOW.”

Carlin responded publicly, pointing out that the soiled sheet was simply “chocolate ice cream”, saying he was amazed by the “precious” people who failed to see the humour.

“Omg (face palm emoji])” he wrote in response to a direct message.

“It's chocolate ice cream. NO ONE would do that!!!!,” he went on: “I've had to explain my joke but we got there in the end … my humour probably will never change.”

The cheeky video comes as anxious shoppers continue to strip supermarket shelves clean of toilet paper supplies amid the coronavirus panic, prompting Prime Minister Scott Morrison to this week urge people to “stop hoarding”, calling it simply “un-Australian”.
