Bachelorette frontrunner Carlin Sterritt reveals he’s still married

He secured himself as a frontrunner in episode one — but now Carlin has made a surprise confession that may change the game.

Bachelorette Angie Kent has embarked on her first single date of the season, taking fan and bookies’ favourite Carlin Sterritt out for the coveted 24-hour date.

But only a few minutes in to their camping trip, he dropped a bombshell that shocked social media almost as much as Angie.

He’s married.

“I’m the kinda guy who wants to be open and transparent,” Carlin had told her; “I am … married.”

He went on to explain that while he’s been separated for a year and a half, he still technically has a wife.

“We drifted apart. And I was pretty hurt in the process. She’s moved overseas now so for me it was like I’ve closed that chapter of my life.”

“We filed for divorce and stuff and I suppose that’s the last stage of that,” he said.

After blowing her away on the red carpet, and sweetly serenading her at the first cocktail party, Angie seemed instantly smitten with the 30-year-old fitness trainer.

But following his revelation, she said it “threw a spanner in the works”.

Speaking to the camera following their conversation, Angie expressed her concern that he’s using this experience to get over his marriage.

“The bloke’s bloody married!,” the reality TV star exclaimed.

Carlin assured her he’s committed to his search for love, adding that the separation and 2016 marriage ‘feels like a lifetime ago’.

The honest conversation earned him a rose and our first Bachelorette kiss, but it didn’t stop the shocked reaction on social media:
