The Bachelor: Cass Wood laughs awkwardly when asked about latest rumours
RUMOURS are spreading like wildfire that Bachelor Nick has already dumped his chosen winner in favour of third runner-up Cass. Her interviews this morning didn’t help.
WITH just two episodes left of The Bachelor, the rumour mill is in overdrive about whether or not Nick “Honey Badger” Cummins has already dumped the winner.
And this interview with latest evictee Cass Wood absolutely won’t help matters.
Appearing on Nova FM’s Fitzy and Wippa show this morning, Cass was left awkwardly giggling as she tried to dodge questions about the final results and her relationship status with Nick.
“Cass, there’s a rumour that you and the Honey Badger are together now. What’s your thoughts on that?” host Sarah McGilvray asked the accounting student, 24, referring to reports that Nick had “pulled a Blake Garvey” and split from his chosen winner in favour of reuniting with a former contestant.
Her answer didn’t do much to alleviate gossip.
“Ummmmmm,” Cass stalled, giggling.
“Nah, there’s a lot of fake news … And, uh, I believe he’s with the winner and having a happy life.”
“I don’t know if I believe you — that smile on your face!” Sarah hit back.
Asked if she’d seen Nick since leaving The Bachelor, Cass was again cagey.
“Ummm, out of respect to the winner, we’d never organise to hang out. But we do live, uh, on the Northern Beaches, and I have bumped into him,” Cass told the hosts, before quickly adding: “But it was just like, ‘Hi, bye.’”
When asked point-blank if she and Nick were “still together”, she replied “no”, but was less convincing when answering the follow-up question: “Are you single?”
“Yeah,” Cass said, causing Sarah to point out: “You raised your eyebrows.”
The reality TV star had a similar response when grilled on the topic by KIIS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O a short time later.
“They’re saying that (Nick has) now ditched the winner and you two are together,” Jackie O prompted her.
“I have seen a couple of those articles, yeah. There’s a lot of fake news …” Cass told her.
Earlier this week, NW reported that Nick had had a change of heart after choosing Brittany Hockley in the finale, and asked Cass for a second chance at their relationship instead.
Adding fuel to the fire is the fact that Nick left Australia on Monday to hike the Kokoda Trail in Papua New Guinea, which will keep him out of the country across The Bachelor finale week.
It’s a surprise move, given that the Bachelor is usually required to be in Sydney and Melbourne the week of the final episodes for interviews alongside the winner.
The last time a Bachelor suitor wasn’t available for interviews was Blake Garvey in 2014 — who famously dumped winner Sam Frost for second runner-up Louise Pillidge after filming wrapped.
The Bachelor continues 7.30pm tonight on Ten.
