SAS Australia: Candice Warner fires back at Roxy Jacenko as feud intensifies

Candice Warner has opened up about her friendship with Roxy Jacenko which came to a screeching halt on the set of SAS Australia.

The public feud between Candice Warner and Roxy Jacenko intensified today with the former ironwoman saying she was “shocked” when the PR queen blasted her on radio last week.

The two women had a huge falling out on the set of SAS Australia when they were challenged by the show’s instructors to take each other on in a boxing fight.

Speaking to Kyle and Jackie O on KIIS FM last week, Jacenko said she was “upset” to be paired with Warner who at the time was a friend and a client of hers. She also claimed she refused to throw a punch at Warner during the challenge.

“Is she really my friend anymore? No. You know why I never hit back? Because it’d be like being in a ring with Jackie. You’re my mate, and I’m not going to smack you in the face for other people’s entertainment,” she told the hosts.

“You wouldn’t continue punching when the person – me – turns their back and continue punching them in the back of the head. In boxing, that’s totally not allowed. The reality is, I can’t punch my then-friend in the face for people’s entertainment.”

“You look back and go, ‘F**k, I should have whacked her one,’ but you know what? I’m bigger than that and I’ve got respect for other people.”

Jacenko revealed she cried after their bout, and said Warner had not since reached out to try and repair their friendship. “No, she sacked me instead,” she said with a laugh.

“People will always let you down. I believe after what I did for Candice that it was a real smack in the face, pardon the pun.”

But Warner has now dismissed Jacenko’s claim that she didn’t fight back, telling Nova’s Fitzy and Wippa that “there was an opportunity before the fight to pull out, (but) we both chose to glove up, put the helmet on”.

Warner added: “She tried to (fight) but she couldn’t land a punch. That’s the honest truth. Ask anyone.”

Warner, who is married to Australian cricketer Dave Warner, said that she did apologise to Jacenko after the bout in a scene that didn’t go to air.

But she certainly wasn’t expecting Jacenko to attack her on radio last week.

“I was shocked by her comments and I’m really sorry that she feels that way,” Warner said on Nova this morning.

Warner said that she remains under contract with Jacenko until next month, but when asked if they’re on speaking terms, she told Fitzy and Wippa: “Apparently not.”

FIRST ONE TO FALL

Roxy Jacenko was the first celebrity to quit SAS Australia, pulling the pin after just six hours.

After receiving more than 2000 messages from trolls following her early exit from the show, Jacenko hit back on social media and revealed that just six weeks prior to filming she had fractured her hip and pelvis.

But despite her injury, SAS Australia instructor Mark ‘Billy’ Billingham named Jacenko as the most disappointing celeb on the show.

“The girl who went first, Roxy. Lovely girl, and she had an injury prior to the show, I’ll give her that, but she could have gone a lot further. She talked herself out of it,” Billingham told news.com.au.

“She hated the course, she hated being shouted at,” he said. “I think she was a lot physically fitter than what we saw because she didn’t really push herself.

“You could tell from her facial expressions within the first couple of hours she was not in a good place, didn’t want to be there and she let her mind take control of that,” he said.

“I was quite disappointed actually … she could have done a lot better.”

SAS Australia continues tonight on Channel 7 at 7.30pm
