SAS Australia 2021: Celebs forced to strip naked

There were plenty of tense moments during the SAS premiere – but it was this directive that left both celebs and viewers mortified.

The premiere of SAS Australia showed this season’s celebrity recruits being tear-gassed, pushed out of a helicopter, and forced to go to the toilet side-by-side in exposed stalls – but it was one simple instruction just 20 minutes into the episode that shocked the most.

The 18-person cast – which includes Sam Burgess, Manu Feildel, Erin Holland, Brynne Edelsten, Mark Philloupoussis and Jana Pittman – had just individually endured teargas in an enclosed space when they reassembled outside and were told by SAS Chief Instructor Ant Middleton to strip.

“Everything that we tell you to do, do it … because most of you have showed us how undisciplined you are,” Ant barked at them.

“I’m on you, I’m watching you to see if your tiny little brains can take on the smallest bits of information. When I say go, you will strip down to your underwear, put your trainers back on and stand exactly how you are.”

While some celebrities were wearing sports-style undergarments – it was clear others were completely thrown off-guard, including former Olympic hurdler Jana Pittman who was wearing a G-string.

The group was then forced to jog to their training camp, where things got even worse after they were hosed down.

“Everybody strip! That means take everything off, everything. Dry yourself. Put your f**king clothes on,” Ant shouted at them.

Later, as the celebrities finally had a chance to talk amongst themselves privately, Pittman admitted to socialite Brynne Edelsten how difficult she’d found the task.

“I can’t believe I had to get naked on television – it was the hardest thing I’ve ever done,” she said.

“I’ve got such a body dysmorphia, so … I had a G-string on! I didn’t even think about it.”

Edelsten had had a similar wardrobe fiasco.

“I’d thought that I’d left a sports bra in with my stuff, coz I’d brought an extra sports bra to wear, and I didn’t – and my bra was too small, so my nipples kept coming out,” the embarrassed star replied.

Viewers at home were shocked by the confronting challenge.

Later in the episode socialite Brynne Edelsten became the first celebrity to bow out of SAS Australia this season.

A beasting in the parade square proved to be too physically challenging for her.

“Even though I’m disappointed I’m leaving, I know that I need to because my body is not strong enough to keep doing these things,” Edelsten said. “But I have no regrets about this, if anything it encourages me to keep going and see what I can do in the future.”

SAS Australia continues tonight at 7.30pm on Seven
