Married At First Sight star Bryce Ruthven has claimed he is a “lover not a fighter” after being involved in a violent brawl at a Melbourne charity boxing event on Friday night.

MAFS rivals Ruthven and Sam Carraro had to be pried away from each other at the Melbourne Pavillion, where Carraro had just won his Whatever It Takes match against former AFL player and Love Island contestant Todd Eaton.

Ruthven and his wife Melissa Rawson have since released a video statement about the incident where Ruthven admits to calling Carraro “a flog”.

“Sam had won his boxing fight. We were at the fight. He was saying all this stuff ‘f**king Gonzo, f**king Bryce, pussy’ all this stuff, wanting to fight,” Ruthven said.

“I’ve never wanted to fight the guy. I’ve got zero interest in a boxing match. I’m a lover not a fighter. I’m just more interested in my partner and my twin boys. We’re allowed to have a night out.

“I called him a flog. I don’t think there is anything wrong with calling him a flog. People around us were calling him much worse.”

Ruthven went on to say Carraro came out of the ring and made a comment to the couple, to which Ruthven said: “Mate you are a flog, no one likes you, jog on.”

“He stood there, I went up to the rope, things happened,” Ruthven said, claiming Carraro put his wife in danger.

According to The Daily Telegraph, Carraro responded that Ruthven was a “narcissist” who had no business being at the Melbourne Pavillion and rejected Ruthven’s claims he was a “bully”.

In the video of the fight, MAFS alumni Steve Burley can be seen intervening along with a number of bystanders.

Celebrity agent Max Markson, who represents both men, told NCA Newswire on Saturday everyone had since cooled down.

“Everyone’s fine I think,” Markson said. “Sam was just over excited and had just won his fight and just wanted to have a go at Bryce.”
