Controversial MAFS couple and new parents Bryce and Melissa have hit back at claims they had no place being at a fight night, where a brawl erupted.

Blows between MAFS enemies Bryce Ruthven and Sam Carraro have continued to be thrown beyond the now famous Friday night Melbourne brawl, with slurs of “flog”, “bully” and questionable parenting exchanged

Controversial MAFS couple and new parents to premature twins, Bryce Ruthven and Melissa Rawson, have released a video statement declaring they had a right to a night out and are lovers not fighters.

Ruthven is seen doing most of the talking, with Rawson seated behind him and nodding along.

Ruthven and Rawson were caught up in a melee at the Whatever It Takes fight night at the Melbourne Pavilion on Friday night, with fellow MAFS star Carraro.

Carraro and Ruthven were arch enemies on the reality show and can be seen going at each other, with Rawson at times in between the fighting pair.

“Sam had won his boxing fight, we were at the fight. He was saying all this stuff ‘f**ken’ Gonzo, f**ken’ Bryce, pussy,’ all this stuff, wanting to fight. I’ve never wanted to fight the guy. I’ve got zero interest in a boxing match. I’m a lover not a fighter, I’m just more interested in my partner and my twin boys,” Ruthven said.

“I called him a flog. I don’t think there is anything wrong with calling him a flog. People around us were calling him much worse and then he came off (out of the ring) and made a bit of a comment to us and I basically said ‘mate, you are a flog, no one likes ya, jog on.”

Carraro responded that Ruthven was a “narcissist” who had no business being at the Melbourne Pavillion, and rejected Ruthven’s claims he was a “bully”.

“He’s just a narcissist, he’s full of s--t,” Carraro said.

He also questioned why the new parents were out on the town and not home with their new babies.

Shocking footage emerged of the two Married At First Sight stars seemingly coming to blows at the Melbourne boxing match over the weekend, with fellow MAFS star Nick Furphy capturing the moment on video.

Security guards raced over to the group, who were filmed enjoying ringside food and drinks just moments before the scuffle.

Carraro said Ruthven showed up at the Kensington venue looking for a fight because he was not known to be friends with any of the celebrities fighting on the night.

“I’m not his friend and he had no reason to be at a fight night,” he said.

“He has two young kids. What was he even doing there?”

“Bryce is just full of shit. It’s that simple.”

Onlookers attempted to separate Bryce Ruthven and Sam Carraro.

The pair then faced off.

On the video, Carraro can be heard taunting Ruthven, labelling him ‘gonzo’ – a nickname he gained during his time on Married At First Sight, referencing the size of his nose.

About half a dozen crowd goers could be seen trying to keep the men apart before the pair swung at one another.

This is not the first time tensions have erupted at the infamous Kensington venue.

On December 11, former Victoria Police senior sergeant and broadcaster Rex Hunt followed and intercepted a would-be thief outside the Melbourne Pavilion who stole A Current Affair reporter Seb Costello’s satchel.

Meanwhile, professional lightweight boxer Hunter Ioane was beaten by several men outside the venue after a Thai boxing match in October.

In March 2019, Craigieburn father Ben Togiai was gunned down at the Melbourne Pavilion in what police believed was a targeted hit attack at a boxing match attended by some of Melbourne’s most notorious gangland figures, including Mick Gatto, former bikie Toby Mitchell and members of the violent Haddara family.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman said no incidents matching the description of the fight were reported to police.
