MAFS: Cyrell and Liz no longer speaking over reality show spin-off
Just when it seemed all the MAFS drama was finished, two of the show’s stars have become embroiled in a nasty spat — and it’s all playing out in public.
MAFS fans brace yourselves; another power couple from the series have parted ways.
While neither of their “marriages” on the reality TV show worked out, Cyrell Paule and Liz Sobinoff left the series with a firm friendship.
The duo banded together against “mean girls” trio Jessika Power, Ines Basic and Martha Kalifatidis at the reunion and since then have been flaunting their friendship all over social media.
That’s until this week when Sobinoff blocked Paule on Instagram, deleting all photos of her reality TV BFF from her profile.
So what caused the MAFS power couple to call it quits?
Well, according to Paule, it was because of a comment Sobinoff made during her disastrous Today Extra interview on Wednesday.
The MAFS star was brought on the show to discuss reports she and Paule were in talks for a new reality show — only to then repeatedly insist she knew nothing about it.
Sobinoff then appeared to suggest Paule was responsible for the story — which first surfaced in May — as she tried to dodge questions on the subject.
“So who talked about it then, (Paule) did?” David Campbell asked.
“She must of,” Sobinoff replied.
Speaking on the Kyle and Jackie O Show on Thursday morning, Paule revealed Sobinoff’s interview had resulted in a tense phone call between the two of them.
The reality star — who has been dubbed “Cyclone Cyrell” — said she had been shocked to hear Sobinoff attribute the show idea to her.
“When she said I had started it to be honest I contacted her yesterday, but I don’t want to go into too much detail of that … I wouldn’t say (we’re) frenemies, it’s definitely not a full on big situation,” Paule explained.
“But you know words were said, people got upset, and I don’t really see us getting back round from that to be honest.”
Paule said she found it “freaking hilarious” that Sobinoff had blocked her on Instagram, adding: “I wasn’t the one who turned around and put someone on the spot and saying that they started the rumour when we talked about this two weeks ago.”
Meanwhile, Sobinoff has alluded to her fight with Paule, sharing a post on her Instagram story claiming she had been letting “people walk over me in fear of me upsetting them”.
“I worked really had on standing up for what’s right, but in the last few months I’ve let that go (and) just becoming submissive,” Sobinoff wrote.
“It’s time for me to take some of my own advice and practice what I worked so hard on previously.”
So there you have it: a reality TV friendship brought undone by a non-existent reality TV show — you couldn’t make it up if you tried.
