Married At First Sight bride Selin Mengu has copped the wrath of viewers after she went on a rampage at Monday night’s dinner party, accused of throwing her husband under the bus and refusing to accept his apology.

Selin, 32, reunited with her TV newlywed Anthony Cincotta, 38, on last night’s episode after he fled their honeymoon on Thursday night, as he accused his ‘wife’ of belittling him when cameras weren’t rolling.

And last night, despite Anthony’s best efforts to make amends, the mother-of-one continued to say he wasn’t acting like “a man”, as she seemingly attempted to turn the group against him.

Frustrated viewers took to social media to slam Selin for her “horrible” treatment of Anthony, adding her attitude was why some men find it difficult to open up about their feelings

To recap the full events, the pair rocked up separately to the all-important dinner party, with Selin entering first as she wasted no time rallying her fellow brides onside.

“He just wanted some time … We had a bit of a moment. I mean I’m not gonna throw him under the bus but he said what he had to say, then he would storm off. He just wouldn’t communicate,” Selin began in an almighty take-down of Anthony which occupied conversation for the bulk of the evening.

“Well, I’m glad she’s not throwing him under the bus,” expert Alessandra Rampolla joked as the three judges watched on.

Selin said she didn’t want to throw Anthony under the bus, before throwing him under the bus.

Anthony rocked up last, refusing to talk about the incident out of “respect” for Selin despite repeated attempts from the group to tell his side of the story.

“It’s a private conversation I want to have with Selin herself,” he said several times, as fellow brides Tamara and Domenica continued to press him.

Later, Anthony pulled Selin aside privately and apologised for leaving the honeymoon, in a desperate attempt to repair the damage.

“I left the honeymoon and you felt like you didn’t have that chance to speak and I understand that and I’m sorry for that … I didn’t mean for it to fall apart there. I’m sorry it did. What do we need to do right now to get through this?” he said.

Selin, unmoved by his attempts, wasn’t having it.

“Right now I’m trying to be understanding, but you left. YOU left. You don’t just walk away. You need to communicate. YOU left. That’s the issue.”

Selin got no closer to fixing things with Anthony, despite his attempts.

Expert John Aiken, looking almost in pain, said: “No Selin … It’s a brick wall he’s hitting. He’s trying to validate and understand and be accountable, and it is a brick wall.”

Mel Schilling chimed in: “‘Yeah, you’re at fault, I’m the victim’. If we can be objective here, he’s mismanaged a conflict situation but he’s owned that.”

Then Alessandra said: “He’s apologised 27,000 times, she didn’t apologise once.”

John added: “There’s a real sense of not letting him get away with this. And it also tells us what she’s like in relationships. She’s got unrelenting standards that you’re not going to measure up to. And when you get it wrong, she’s going to hold onto it and make you pay. That’s ultimately going to keep her single.”

The MAFS experts said Selin had “unrelenting standards”.

Despite Anthony’s best efforts, Selin said she “couldn’t get past” him leaving the honeymoon, before claiming all she wanted him to do was apologise.

“It wasn’t what I wanted to hear. He didn’t say he was sorry,” she claimed. “That’s what I wanted to hear. Just plain and simple, I’m sorry.”

“Or maybe he did say it, I just didn’t hear it. But he did leave our honeymoon one day early.”
