MAFS bride Olivia Frazer reveals real reason for bizarre meltdown
The most controversial contestant on MAFS has finally spoken out, revealing what was actually going on during her baffling tantrum this week.
Married At First Sight’s most controversial bride, Olivia Frazer, has opened up about the bizarre meltdown on the show that left viewers scratching their heads.
Olivia, 28, was left furious and considering walking out on the experiment during Monday night’s episode, after an assigned task saw her and “husband” Jackson Lonie forced to spend 24 hours apart.
Opening up about her extreme reaction to 9 Entertainment, the teaching assistant explained that it had simply come at a “really rough time” amid her infamous ongoing feud with Domenica Calarco.
“Honestly the idea of spending a night away from Jackson in normal circumstances doesn’t bother me, it just came at a really, really rough time,” she said.
Olivia added that she was still upset following her confrontation with Domenica – who had turned up at her apartment demanding answers about the nude photo she had shared among the group – and the unsettling commitment ceremony which had followed.
The task of spending time apart was actually designed by Domenica and her “husband” Jack Millar, who were told they had to come up with a challenge for their fellow castmates.
Despite their rivalry, Olivia insisted she had no hard feelings about Domenica and Jack’s choice of assignment and accompanying letter.
“I thought honestly that they did the best that they could,” she said.
“I think our relationship is a really hard one to critique. So, to be honest they were forced to clutch at straws, it was literally the only thing they could say, that we like each other too much … I felt like they were stuck between a rock and a hard place like we were. I think Dom and Jack did a lovely job on the letter,” Olivia said.
“I wasn’t offended; I didn’t feel like they were trying to have a dig [with setting the task].”
During Monday night’s episode, Olivia was clearly anxious as the note from the other couple arrived.
“I have been dreading that letter all afternoon. I have had a rough day and don’t need to be piled on,” she complained, before Jackson began reading from the letter: “We believe that you are exhibiting signs of co-dependency.”
At first, Olivia laughed off their comments, but as the reality of her next 24 hours sunk in, she became visibly upset.
“I think the task is a bit sh*t, it’s a bit of a rough one. I have just been dying to wrap up for the day and have a cuddle and go to sleep with my husband,” she said, as her eyes filled with tears.
Jackson, however, had a different approach: “I am actually excited to have a night apart. I can watch whatever movie I want to watch, I can have the bed to myself.”
By the time he returned the following day, Olivia had worked herself up into a very distressed state, telling him immediately that she’d “had a meltdown” and was considering quitting the experiment.
“I’m questioning why we should bother staying here when Domenica and Jack are trying to rip it apart,” she told Jackson.
“Dominica was allowed to come over to this house and scream at me the other day, and at the commitment ceremony I get railroaded, gaslighted, attempts of assassination against my character!”
After Jackson’s attempt to calm her down failed, Olivia admitted in a private conversation with producers that she’d been left “more alone in her feelings” and was still “feeling all sorts of awful things”.
Married At First Sight continues tonight at 7.30pm on Nine.
