‘It was honest’: MAFS Groom Sam hits back after being accused of fat shaming

Sam, who complained he was “too good looking for love,” has hit back after being accused of fat shaming his bride.

Married At First Sight’s Sam has hit back after being accused of fat-shaming his bride Elizabeth, claiming he was just telling the “honest truth” when he made remarks about her weight.

During Sunday night’s episode the 26-year-old — who claimed he struggled to find a girlfriend because he was too good looking — took issue with his bride Elizabeth’s appearance.

“I’ve never really dated girls as big as Elizabeth in the past, to be honest,” he told producers.

“Maybe I’ll get her running in the mornings with me. Maybe drag her outta bed with me. I don’t know. She’ll be right. We’ll get her going. She’ll be fine.”

Speaking to TV Week , Sam stood by his first impression and told the magazine he was just a “honest guy, and that was the honest truth”.

“She’s not a big girl, but she’s just a little bit bigger than girls I normally date,” the tradie and part-time model said.

“Health and fitness is huge for me and I was a bit concerned when I saw Elizabeth. I just hoped she’d want to live an active lifestyle too.”

Sam also complained he felt “cheated” by the experts as Elizabeth’s appearance and big personality was not want he had asked for.

It seems there is no love lost between the pair (shock horror), with Elizabeth also telling TV Week that Sam was a “great actor” who has “unreasonable expectations of women”.

Viewers savaged Sam for his comments about Elizabeth, and pointed out it was hypocritical for him to complain about being judged over his appearance and then pick on his “wife”.
