Explosive moments cut from MAFS finale: ‘A mess’

One of this season’s cast members has revealed the jaw-dropping remark and explosive storm-out that were completely cut from the dramatic finale.

There was certainly plenty of drama across Married At First Sight’s explosive two-part season finale – but according to one cast member, there were even more bombshell moments viewers didn’t get to see.

One of the brides from this season spoke anonymously to the Daily Mail, revealing that producers were forced to intervene after a “war of words” broke out between several of her castmates, leaving everyone “screaming at each other” and “wanting time in front of the camera”.

She also claimed that Melissa Sheppard was “inconsolable” and felt “sl*t-shamed” after seeing the way she had been portrayed on the show and stormed off set.

“Melissa was a mess. She was crying and inconsolable. Jesse [Burford] was there with her trying to calm her down until a producer walked over to try and talk to her,” the source said.

“Melissa was having none of it and didn’t want a bar of production, she ripped off her microphone and announced she was leaving.”

The bride added that producers “knew they did her wrong and let her walk out”, without drawing attention to her abrupt exit.

Melissa was ‘inconsolable’ about her portrayal, according to the source.

Another huge feature that was cut from the show, according to the website, was Bronte Schofield and Harrison Boon’s lengthy time on the couch. The source claimed it was completely edited out as it “didn’t match the narrative” that had already been presented.

The bride also alleged that a shocking remark made by controversial groom Harrison to fellow cast member Duncan James didn’t make it to air.

Duncan’s bride, Alyssa Barmonde, was reportedly upset after hearing him ask her TV “husband” why he’d “want to be with a single 35-year-old mum with baggage when he can “pick up 22-year-olds” after his appearance on the show.

According to the source, Duncan “laughed off” the comment, but Alyssa was “understandably upset”.

One of the most shocking moments that actually did make it to air on Monday night was the airing of grainy footage that shed light on Dan Hunjas’ behaviour.

Hugo Armstrong was seen ranting to a producer about his behaviour, describing things he’d heard Dan say as “f***ed”.

“I don’t wanna throw any of the boys under the bus … Dan [was] like, ‘I can’t stand her. But we say yes to try to make it to the end. She is the last person I’d be attracted to. Like, she’s 100 per cent, not my type,” he said.

The explosive footage appeared to finally confirm rumours that had swirled earlier in the season – right before Dan and “wife” Sandy Jawanda called it quits – that he had been showing photos of his ex-girlfriends to the other men on a boys’ night, and declaring they were hotter than Sandy.

He denied it at the time and no other evidence was brought forward – but Hugo’s rant indicated that Dan’s words may have actually been worse than first imagined.

After the footage aired, Dan immediately began glaring at Hugo, causing an angry Sandy to step in.

“Stop looking at Hugo. I know what you’re doing. Stop intimidating him. I see it in your eyes, Dan. I’ve dealt with you for two months full-time, and I know exactly what you do. You’re doing it to me right now. Stop trying to intimidate me and stop me from speaking,” she berated him.

Dan then told the group he didn’t “recall” saying the words Hugo had mentioned, motivating Sandy to then come forward to reveal more details of his poor behaviour toward her.

“The night before we went to bed, he said things like, ‘I don’t understand why you only want to get intimate in the dark. I’m not vibing with this, Sandy. I date girls who walk around in skimpy clothes,” she told the room.
