MAFS star lashes out at Jules Robinson for dumping her as bridesmaid

Mel Lucarelli has launched a scathing attack at her MAFS co-star Jules Robinson, after being dumped as bridesmaid for her wedding.

Hell hath no fury like a MAFS bridesmaid scorned.

Married At First Sight success story Jules Robinson, 37, and Cameron Merchant, 34, tied the knot for real in Sydney yesterday, just over a year since their non-binding TV wedding.

But their co-star Melissa Lucarelli, who Jules asked to be bridesmaid after Cameron proposed while filming the Channel 9 show, has launched a scathing attack at her former friend, who she claims dumped her from the bridal party weeks out from the big day.

Taking to her Instagram stories yesterday, Mel said Jules’ decision to shun her was “cold” and “hurtful”, while also uploading a photo with the bride with the caption, “Yes the rumours are true. Yes Jules dumped me as a bridesmaid. No I wasn’t at the wedding event of the year.”

“I’ve had so many messages and people keep asking me what the story is. So yes, it is true, Jules dumped me as a bridesmaid. As for why, I’m honestly not sure,” Mel said on her Instagram stories.

“She kept changing her reasons and none of them made sense.

“It really all just came out of the blue and yeah, I didn’t see it coming at all. Of course, you’re allowed to change your mind about who you want as a bridesmaid, but I just feel like the way it was done was really cold and rather hurtful.

Melissa took to her Instagram stories to slam Jules.

“In this case I was asked to be a bridesmaid in a public way, and also that the wedding had been sold to Channel 9 so was going to get televised, which is obviously a very public way of having a wedding, so I guess it just makes the public dumping of you as a bridesmaid for no reason that little bit more embarrassing, hurtful, confusing.

“I wish I was never asked to be a bridesmaid in the first place so I wasn’t in this position.

“I hope they have a great wedding.”

Melissa, 38, who was asked to be bridesmaid alongside fellow MAFS contestant Heidi Latcham, told NW magazine last month she believed her invitation was simply a “publicity” stunt.

“One day we were texting about family and babies, then two days later she was dumping me as a bridesmaid,” she explained.

According to Mel, Jules told her via text message that: “Just ‘cause I said it on the show doesn’t meant (sic) I have to do it.”

“Not only was the text cold, but she used our friendship for her own publicity,” Melissa said.

Fellow MAFS alum Jessika Power sided with Mel, dubbing Jules “calculated” in a comment posted on Instagram at the time.

“I actually have to back Mel on this. Throughout filming, Jules would say Martha (Kalifatidis) and I were only there for social media and endorsements, but since the show ended it seems that’s all Jules is for also,” Jess wrote.

“It’s really sad to see that Jules dropped Mel as a bridesmaid but not surprising, it seems everything that woman does these days is calculated and beneficial for her and her only.”

Jules and Cam were married at Beta Bar and Alpha Restaurant in Sydney’s CBD yesterday afternoon.

The nuptials, as well as the lead up to the wedding, was filmed for A Current Affair, which will air on Tuesday night.
