Linda’s genius noodle hack on MasterChef leaves judges incredibly impressed

Linda’s quick-thinking during a Mystery Box challenge with a noodle hack leaves the judges incredibly impressed.

Following Eric’s elimination from the MasterChef kitchen on Tuesday, the 14 remaining contestants will enter the kitchen for Wednesday nights episode, amazed to see oversized Mystery Boxes sitting atop their benches.

When they lift their lids, they are surprised to find that rather than ingredients they have a collection of 11 basic kitchen utensils – a spatula, whisk, tongs, saucepan, frying pan, two mixing bowls, baking tray, a fish slice, wooden spoon, a sieve and a teacup.

Everything else on the equipment shelves is out of bounds.

Judge Andy Allen will explain to the home cooks that the challenge is to create a dish using only the utensils they have under the box, the kind of utensils most home cooks have in their kitchen.

With 75 minutes to create their dish with open access to the pantry and garden, the top five dishes will get a chance at cooking for immunity.

Will Linda be one of those lucky people?

In a clip shared with news.com.au, Linda has a moment of genius when she has to think fast about what to replace her failed hand cut vermicelli noodles with.

Thinking high-protein and low carb, Linda is immediately drawn to making an omelette.

“What can I do that’s not noodles?” she thinks. Explaining that her stir fry is missing the vermicelli element, she says that she “needs something to substitute it.”

It’s a light bulb moment when she thinks of an omelette.

“It’s soft, it absorbs sauces, it doesn’t give off much flavour and it’s got that noodle texture.”

With only minutes left on the clock, Linda runs to the fridge to grab her eggs.
