Tziporah Malkah to enter assault plea in May
FORMER model and I’m a Celeb... star Tziporah Malkah has been threatened with arrest after missing court again on assault charges.
FORMER model and I’m a Celeb ... contestant Tziporah Malkah has not attended her second court appearance on assault charges.
It means James Packer’s former model fiancee will enter her plea on the charges in May. However, if she misses that, an arrest warrant will be activated.
Malkah, formerly known as Kate Fischer, did not appear in the Victor Harbor Magistrates Court, south of Adelaide, in relation to allegations she assaulted her then-partner during an incident in January.
AAP reports that the court was told Malkah had sent an email earlier in the morning to explain neither she nor her lawyer would be attending.
Malkah, 44, was previously known as Kate Fischer. She now resides in Sydney.
The former pin-up model has featured on the cover of Vogue four times and was engaged to billionaire James Packer in the 1990s.
She was arrested in January and charged with biting her then-partner, Guy Vasey, and assaulting three SA Police officers during an incident at the home they shared.
Malkah, who starred in the hit movie Sirens, was further charged with resisting the police officers, and with disorderly behaviour.
She denied the allegations on social media — alleging she had been mistreated by police following her arrest — and outside court following her first appearance in February.
“What I can say is that I’m a woman who stands up for herself these days … I’ve been bullied a lot, particularly in relationships,” she told reporters.
“I don’t deny fighting for myself, and I don’t deny standing up for myself.”
She also hit back over reports of her bizarre behaviour outside a South Australian court after she appeared on the assault charges.
The ex-model took to social media after her arrest and release on bail for the charges to slam the police handling of the incident in January.
“Please enjoy these bruises committed by the police,” she wrote beneath a photo of bruising on her arms on Instagram.
“I was quietly on screen in my room, he called the police and had them come over, arrest me for assault.
“I was finally taken to (the) cop shop where among other things I was dragged along the floor, pushed and shoved and made to lie in my own urine in a cold room with no blanket.
“They would not allow me to take my medication or see a (doctor).”
Outside the court on her first appearance, she faced television cameras, asked for selfies with news reporters and smoked cigarettes before making a statement in which she claimed she had been “bullied a lot”.
After watching a 7News report covering the incident, Tziporah defended herself on Twitter.
“I’m not bizarre. I’m angry, hurt & confused. Yet I refuse to behave meekly. I stand up for myself,” she wrote.
