‘The final straw’: Ajay Rochester slams Michelle Bridges on I’m A Celebrity
It looks like Ajay Rochester’s spat with Michelle Bridges is far from over, with the TV host slamming the fitness star in an epic rant.
It looks like Ajay Rochester’s feud with former Biggest Loser trainer Michelle Bridges is far from over.
The self-described “queen of TMI” will detail her infamous spat with the fitness personality on Monday’s episode of I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! and she does not hold back.
Rochester hosted The Biggest Loser from 2006 to 2008, falling out spectacularly with the show after her departure.
In 2016 Rochester shared a memorable Instagram post of her rear end alongside a caption urging Bridges to “kiss my fat happy ass” after the trainer told the ABC she had “never met a happy, morbidly obese person”.
In an accompanying blog post Rochester accused Bridges of being “fat-phobic”, also accusing her and Biggest Loser trainer Shannan Ponton of making “fat jibes and comments” about her appearance.
“As Biggest Loser ratings reach all time lows every year she needs people to lack a healthy self esteem because her bank account depends on people hating themselves as much as she does…….drink her sugar free Kool Aid and be ‘happy,’” Rochester added.
Speaking to Sam Dastyari about her feud with Bridges on Monday night’s episode of I’m A Celebrity, Rochester appeared to have few regrets about the public spat.
“I mean I did drop my pants and write a face on my butt and posted it to Instagram … Michelle made some comment to some television show and she was like ‘I’ve never met a happy fat person,’” she said.
“And I just, and it for me it was the final straw, I had been silent for so long, it was like the little mouse that roared. Could have perhaps chosen better words.”
Rochester said Bridges’ comments about overweight people “perpetuates this notion” that they are either unhealthy or unhappy.
“If you’re going to make millions of dollars in the weight loss industry, then understand and acknowledge and have some empathy for your client. Don’t turn around and go you’ve never met a fat happy person,” she said.
“It’s the most judgmental, discriminatory thing that you say and it just continually perpetuates this notion that fat is unhealthy, fat is unhappy, fat is different, fat is not OK and it’s like no, you know what?
“I get that that’s your brand, but everybody is different and everybody deserves the right to be happy.”
Prior to entering the jungle, Rochester told Woman’s Day she would “get a fork and stab myself” if Bridges made an appearance on I’m A Celebrity.
“I’d prefer Satan,” she added.
I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! continues tonight at 7.30pm on Network 10.
