I’m A Celeb star Jackie Gillies breaks down: ‘Danny Green intimidated me’

EVICTED I’m A Celeb contestant Jackie Gillies has wept through interviews about her time on the show, saying boxer Danny Green “intimidated” her.

THE latest contestant evicted from I’m A Celeb, Jackie Gillies, has appeared at times inconsolable during her post-eviction commitments as she’s learned what some of her fellow contestants were saying behind her back.

Footage aired in last night’s episode showed boxer Danny Green referring to Gillies as “the most unintelligent person in the entire world,” while actor Peter Rowsthorn was seen calling her “s***faced”.

Danny Green was the one campmate Gillies did not hug as she left the show, and when probed about the conflict by hosts Chris Brown and Julia Morris during a live eviction chat, she quickly broke down.

“I heard from a few people in camp that he didn’t like me and that really hurt because ... I didn’t understand where it was coming from,” she said, weeping as Brown and Morris attempted to console her.

“I don’t let people stand over me, but there were times I felt intimidated by him. I didn’t know where it was coming from, because I thought I was nothing but kind to him.”

In a phone interview with Kyle and Jackie O on KIIS this morning, Gillies again broke down as she revealed that Channel Ten publicists had informed her of the names her campmates had called her.

“That I’m the most unintelligent person, that I’m a ‘b**chface’, a ‘s**thead’ or whatever ... I’ve got to be honest with you, that really hurt. I have to say, as I’m talking to you I’ve got one of the PR guys holding me because I’m trying hard not to cry,” she said, her voice cracking.

Gillies’ husband, silverchair drummer Ben Gillies, had been overseeing her social media during her time on the show and last night defended his wife across both he and Jackie’s Twitter accounts:

“I think [Ben] was really affected by some of the things that were said. I didn’t know, because I was just carrying on in camp. But I have to be honest, in the past few days a couple of things have really rattled me, feeling like I was being dismissed in camp,” Gillies told Kyle and Jackie O.

Only four episodes remain in season four of I’m A Celeb, with at least one of the remaining six contestants eliminated during each episode until next Monday’s finale.
