Domenica Calarco dishes on I’m A Celebrity nude showers

I’m A Celeb star Domenica has dished all the goss about celebs showering nude on the show, as she name dropped the “nudie rudies” in camp.

Amid all the challenging tasks on I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!, one of the most confronting aspects of the show sometimes falls off the radar: Showering nude on national TV.

Reality star Aesha Scott avoided showering at all days into filming, preferring to bathe in a nearby creek.

But, with the encouragement of fellow campmate, Geordie Shore star Nathan Henry, Aesha stripped off for her first nude camp shower alongside Domenica Calarco in scenes that aired earlier this month.

Domenica told news.com.au that despite some initital hesitations, almost every campmate stripped down to their birthday suit at one point, unaware whether any shower scenes would would actually air.

The former MAFS star was eliminated from the jungle in Monday night’s episode, and speaking to news.com.au, we informed her that her bare bum had indeed appeared on-air.

Many of the I'm A Celebrity campmates opted to shower nude.

“Oh, OK, that did make it,” she laughed. “Ahhh, the showering naked … To be honest, I didn’t think twice.

“Everyone’s got their birthday suit, mine just happened to be out in the jungle. I did only end up showering about three or four times,” she revealed of her 24 days on the show.

“But I was taking my shirt off and getting changed in front of everyone in camp. You just become so nonchalant.”

Domenica said the contestants all became like “family” quickly and began releasing their inhibitions and embracing jungle nudity after a few days.

“I know Peter Helliar had one or two nude showers but then he started wearing his jocks because he eventually cottoned on it would make it to air. He had his wits about him,”

Domenica said.

“But honestly, we’re all more worrying about our next feed. Deb [Lawrance] was showering nude. Liz [Ellis] is a nudie rudie like me. Adam [Cooney] loved a nude shower. No one is looking.”

Dom said she “didn’t think twice” about stripping off.

It comes after Ian ‘Dicko’ Dickson told news.com.au the contestants had devised a system to get some privacy in the showers, in which they used their microphone packs and akubra hats to signal the shower was off-limits.

“If you leave your akubra upturned with your microphone in it, at the point where you turn down to go towards the showers, it means that person’s in the shower and you’re not to go in there. That was the code,” he said after his elimination last week.

But pretty soon, “most people didn’t give a monkey’s. Aesha and Dom showered nude all the time and didn’t care who saw them. Which is not an invitation to look, because none of us did.”

Dicko himself made an initial attempt at modesty during his 20 days on the show, showering in his underpants for the first few days.

“Then I thought: This is pointless. I ended up taking them off and showering nude. I was certain no-one wants to look at my 60-year-old reptilian body anyway.”

I’m A Celeb airs 7:30pm Wednesday and Thursday on Ten, ahead of Sunday’s season finale.
