THERE has been dramatic scenes on The Block as one team reached breaking point and stormed off set after slamming the competition’s rules.

TWO contestants on The Block have downed tools and stormed off set after the building site’s foreman insisted they redo their living room ceiling.

Despite being one of the competition’s most calm and collected couples, Spence and Kerrie reached breaking point on Tuesday night’s episode after their builders used the wrong mounts to make their apartment sound proof.

Foreman Dan insisted the couple either take out the 170 mounts and replace them, or get a data sheet that proved they were in compliance before they could continue working on the ceiling.

Fuming, Spence refused to tear out the mounts and said he would wait for the data sheet to be sent through from his plasterer, confident they were compliant with the sound engineer’s stipulations.

Spence and Kerrie refused to change the mounts, arguing they were nearly identical.

“I don’t like doing things twice,” he told producers. “So if they are talking about whether it is a 5mm bit of rubber or a 7mm bit of rubber between an acoustic mount, that’s just weird.”

But as the day ticked on, Spence was unable to get the data sheet off his plasterer and called wife Kerrie to tell her not to buy any more furniture for the living room and said they should “throw” the week’s room reveal.

“Well I kind of figure the room isn’t going to be finished, it’s kind of pointless putting stuff in there if it isn’t finished,” he said.

Kerrie was equally frustrated about the situation and said Dan’s decision was a “waste of time and a waste of products”.

Foreman Dan insisted the pair tear the mounts out or get a report from their plasterer saying the ones they had used were in compliance.

“Spence wouldn’t use the incorrect equipment at all, ever in his life,” she said. “He would go out of his way and if he thought it was incorrect he would pull it down before anyone told him he needed to pull it down so it is very frustrating for him. Not happy Jan, because it all sounds like a big load of bulls***.”

When the clock hit 5pm and there was still no data sheet, Dan said the pair had no choice but to install the mounts again and chastised the pair for not doing it earlier.

Realising they had lost a whole day for nothing, Kerrie and Spence let loose in an interview with producers.

“It’s an exercise in futility, it’s an exercise in stupidity changing these clips,” Kerrie fumed. “It’s the biggest loud of horses*** ever and I am really cross, really, really, cross.”

“You know what should we pack our backs and f*** off? It’s been ridiculous,” Spence added, standing up and walking out of the interview.

“I need to get out of this place — f*** you Dan, we are here to build a nice apartment and this is all BS … f***ing hell I need to get out of this f***ing joint.”

As the team’s builders searched frantically for them, Spence and Kerrie could be seen exiting the Gatwick and heading away from the building on foot, taking off their vests and microphones as they went.

It’s not known whether the pair will walk out for good, with a preview for Wednesday night’s episode showing Kerrie and Spence sitting down for a mediation session with host Scott Cam to decide their future on The Block.

— The Block airs 7.30pm Monday to Wednesday and 7pm Sundays on Nine.
