An embattled former reality TV star will seek treatment for drug addiction at an idyllic beachside clinic after she assaulted a family member.

Jordan Finlayson appeared in Sydney Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday wearing a loose black blouse tucked into faux leather pants with her blonde hair tied back in a neat bun.

The 31-year-old was due to face a special hearing after she pleaded guilty to assaulting her brother-in-law during a family argument that turned violent in February last year.

Police allege the attack occurred when the former Beauty and the Geek contestant was living with her family after being released from more than two years in prison for a previous offence.

Upon her release from jail, her family imposed “rules” on her residence which included not bringing unknown people into the house.

But according to court documents the ex-NRL cheerleader allegedly brought her boyfriend into the family home on Valentine’s Day and took him up to her bedroom where he got high.

The following morning, she told both her sister and her brother-in-law that her boyfriend had left the house.

Yet when her sister went to check the former reality TV star’s room, the police facts state she found the man “severely affected by illicit drugs” who was scrambling to hide himself under the bed.

She told Finlayson and her boyfriend to “get out of this house”, but Finlayson hurled a vile tirade in response.

The 31-year-old told her sister to “f**k off” and called her a “fat b***h”, according to the police facts.

Her brother-in-law stepped in to defuse the fight between the sisters, which is when the facts state Finlayson became violent.

She took a glass of juice and hurled it at her brother-in-law’s head, where it hit him just above his right eye before smashing to the floor.

The former professional cheerleader then hid in her bedroom before her sister returned and dragged her from the house with a grip on her hair and shirt-front.

She was arrested three days later, when she told police she had no recollection of throwing the glass.

On Wednesday, the court heard Finlayson is in the midst of an ongoing battle with drug addiction.

Her lawyer Daniel Grippi explained his client had completed a three-week rehabilitation program after her last court appearance.

She started the program before Christmas and her psychologist recommended she continue to receive treatment at a beachside mental health facility in Sydney.

Mr Grippi asked for an adjournment so Ms Finlayson could engage with a program at the clinic from next month.

Deputy Chief Magistrate Sharon Freund agreed it was in the best interest of the community to ensure the former reality TV star has the support she needs.

“For the first time, she’s actually engaging,” she said.

“And she’s making some really positive steps which is fabulous.”

The magistrate told the court she would “take it one step further” by adjourning the matter until April 17 to allow Finlayson to commit to addiction treatment.

At that time, Magistrate Freund foreshadowed the possibility of dismissing the charges under mental health grounds.

“Keep doing your hard work,” she told Finlayson.

The 31-year-old looked relieved as she thanked the magistrate for her time. She will remain on bail.
