Aussie viewers spot bizarre Gladiators detail
The show appeared to go down well with viewers, who loved the nostalgia trip, but one detail left some viewers chuckling.
Gladiators Australia finally returned to screens on Monday night and while many viewers enjoyed the action-packed first episode, some were left baffled after spotting a bizarre detail.
Channel 10’s reboot featured a whole host of gym-fit athletes taking on the public in a series of tough challenges that left many bruised, and a few egos broken.
At first the show also appeared to feature a live audience with the crowd screaming and shouting their support for the contestants and the Gladiators.
However, some eagle-eyed viewers became suspicious, and soon rushed to social media to claim that the loud audience noises that played regularly throughout the show were “faked”, and questioned if there was actually any crowd in the arena at all.
With an audience failing to be shown at all during the first episode, one suspicious viewer found themselves chuckling at the notion producers added in fake noises, tweeting: “There’s no people in the crowd. Where did those cheers come from? Hahaha. #GladiatorsAU”.

A second viewer complimented the show’s reboot as a whole, but shared their frustration over producers “faking” the audience noises, saying: “I wish they wouldn’t try and pretend there’s an audience but considering how cheap the budget for this would have been this is a great revival so far. #GladiatorsAU”.
However, others found the apparent lack of a real audience bizarre, tweeting: “Have they added in fake crowd noises?! #Gladiators #GladiatorsAU,” before adding: “So bad!”.
Another added: “Those people standing on the side in groups of like 6, looking like they’re at the local footy, is that the WHOLE #Gladiators #GladiatorsAU audience? Genuine question!” while a fellow viewer tweeted: “Now I see why I couldn’t find audience tickets for my nephews to watch live #GladiatorsAu”.
Despite the complaints about the audience, or lack thereof, many viewers congratulated Channel 10 on successfully rebooting the series.
Fans were quick to compliment on Gladiator in particular.
“Just let Phoenix do the whole show tonight … THANKS #Gladiatorsau,” tweeted one thoroughly entertained fan, while a second said: “It takes a real man to pull off a black sparkle crop top, and Phoenix certainly pulls it off well #GladiatorsAU”.
