Em Rusciano on Sophie Monk: ‘I think she’s played everyone’
RADIO star Em Rusciano is the latest media personality to claim Sophie Monk is no longer with the Bachelorette winner.
EM Rusciano thinks Sophie Monk “played everyone” and had no real intention of finding love on The Bachelorette.
The 2DAY FM radio star is the latest media identity to voice her opinion that Monk and Stu Laundy’s relationship is a sham, despite the two maintaining they are still together and are very much in love.
Rusciano said on air this morning that she watched the couple’s awkward appearance on The Project on Friday night and doesn’t think “there is a skerrick of romance between the two of them”.
“She, to me, looked uncomfortable and cagey and like she didn’t want to be there.”
Rusciano suggested Monk signed up to The Bachelorette purely to advance her career.
“I think Sophie Monk has got exactly what she wanted to get out of this show,” the radio personality said.
“I think she’s a smart businesswoman, that she wants to be in the entertainment industry and I think she’s become Australia’s darling. Everyone got to see her true skill and talent as a human and I think that she’s really played a trick on everyone because the ultimate prize for her will be a great career, not a man.
“I think she’s played everyone and I salute that and I high five Sophie Monk.”
Kyle Sandilands also addressed the rumours that Monk and Laundy are no longer together on his KIIS FM breakfast show this morning.
He said he asked Monk for the truth after they appeared on his radio show last Friday because he felt “something feels off”.
But Monk assured him that they were still an item and were simply tired.
“She said: ‘We’re so exhausted we can barely put one foot in front of the other’,” Sandilands said. “They’re absolutely exhausted. If something was going on ... she probably would have told me.”
There have been whispers for weeks that Monk and the Bachelorette winner had already broken up and those rumours intensified after a tense appearance on The Project on Friday night.
Some viewers criticised panellists Meshel Laurie and Gorgi Coghlan for what they perceived to be “aggressive” questions during the uncomfortable interview.
“I think you’ve done the classic woman thing where you say that you want one thing but what you actually go for is something else,” Laurie said to Monk on the Channel 10 program.
“You said in the beginning, ‘I just want a down-to-earth, normal guy who wants to get married and have kids.’ What you’ve chosen is a millionaire, who’s already married and had a vasectomy.”
After the interview aired, radio star Kate Langbroek, shared a screenshot of Monk and Laundy on Instagram and wrote, “She hates him”.
Monk did her best to fire back at the rumours on the weekend by sharing a bizarre video on Instagram.
In the video, a woman called Jan is shown chatting to Monk and Laundy as they were having a few drinks at a hotel and in the clip she assured everyone that the couple are still together.
“I just read on my Facebook that you and Stu are not together anymore, and I’d like to verify that you are ... I’ve seen the way how you’re behaving,” Jan says in the video.
