Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay mocked as ‘out of touch’
Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has faced trolling online after he shared an “inspiring” story about selling his Porsche when he was “broke”.
Gordon Ramsay has been trolled online after sharing what he believed to be inspirational advice he received from his father-in-law.
Ramsay has built a huge empire for himself and is now a multi-millionaire having been the mastermind behind numerous TV shows, restaurants and books.
The celebrity chef appeared on Jake Humprey’s latest podcast episode this week where he said that he was once “broke”, despite confessing at the time he was driving a $200,000 car.
Ramsay revealed that when he first started in his career he didn’t have enough cash for a down payment on a loan for his first flat with his wife, Tana.
As a result, he went to ask her father for a loan.
“We were young, we were stupid, we were skint,” said the chef. He took his father-in-law out for a meal and begged him for a loan to help buy his dream house.

However, it didn’t quite go as planned, and Ramsay shared the advice that his father-in-law gave him helped change his life.
“He said ‘okay, here’s what I’ll do. I’ll have another lunch with you when you sell your Porsche,’” continued Ramsay.
“I thought, you f***er. But, you clever f***er. Here I am driving around in a flash 911, and we didn’t even have a house, a flat, a roof over our heads.
He added: “It was the best advice he ever gave me: Sell your f***ing Porsche.”
While Ramsay seemingly felt the story to be inspiring for those also starting out in their careers, social media felt very differently.
One X user hit back: “Celebrities really are the most delusional people on the planet.”

Another teased: “Great advice, housing crisis solved! Just going to sell my Porsche and ask for $20,000 so I can afford a place to live!”
“This is where I’ve been going wrong all these years, not selling a Porsch!” joked another.
While a fourth listener laughed: “This is so relatable … If only I’d thought to sell my Porsche when we were trying to scrape together a deposit for our house”.
