Block contestants air angry late-night text from their own builder

Block contestants Sharon and Ankur have aired a fiery late-night text from their own builder, fuming at how he’s been treated by them.

Contestants Sharon and Ankur’s bumpy ride on The Block continued during Monday’s episode, as the couple copped an angry text from their own builder calling them out for their behaviour.

As The Block host Scott Cam explained it, builder Liam was unhappy that Ankur and Sharon had “left him out of everything to do with the build” while he was on a week’s break.

His frustration began after Sharon and Ankur won last week’s guest bedroom reveal by half a point – and neglected to even inform him of their win.

“Not only did they not tell him the result, or offer a thanks or congratulations, but no heads up on which room they were starting this week. So, Liam let his frustrations be known,” Cam told viewers.

Sharon argued that she and Ankur were trying to respect Liam’s time away from The Block and not bother him unnecessarily – but as he told them, a text to let him know they’d won the week and inform him of what room was next on the agenda wouldn’t have disturbed his holiday.

And he gave them a dressing-down, in the form of lengthy text sent at 3.30am one night. It read, in part:

“I think irrespective of how you guys are feeling from a win, loss or otherwise, I deserve at least a text of the outcome and future week.

All trades deserve a thank you for the week and efforts put in message … For putting their lives on hold, for waiting to come with next to no notice, for making this work within their regular businesses, for some of us not seeing our regular families for days.

The list of impacts goes on and a message of appreciation makes an impact.”

“There was no ‘hi, hello’. It was straight to the point,” said Sharon, with Ankur describing the late-night text as the “last thing” they wanted to receive.

Elsewhere in Monday’s episode, Sharon clashed with several of her fellow competitors – first accusing Omar and Oz of copying several features from last year’s team Ronnie and Georgia with their winning bathroom.

Then later in the episode, a jokey jab from contestant Sarah-Jane about Sharon and Ankur’s painting skills had the couple seeing red.

“We’re the worst painters,” contestant Ryan said of he and wife Rachel as the teams sat around for a friendly dinner.

“That’s a lie, ‘cos Sharon and Anks are the worst painters,” said Sarah-Jane with a laugh. “Call a spade a spade!”

“Real nice,” said a clearly upset Sharon.

“My heart just sank. I felt like we were being laughed at in a group setting,” Sharon told the cameras when she was away from the dinner table.

“It’s rude, it’s unnecessary, and it made me feel like cr*p. And if I wanted to be rude, I'd say ‘Well, the last two weeks we beat you.’ But I’m not an a**ehole.”
