Block favourites Omar and Oz were told they wouldn’t be able to present their bathroom this week, after a never-before-seen disaster struck.

The Block contestants Omar and Oz overcame “disaster” during Sunday’s episode to take out a surprise win for their second bathroom reveal.

It earned the longtime friends the nickname of “Bathroom Kings” at The Block – and all for a room they were worried they wouldn’t even be able to present.

Crisis hit for Omar and Oz early in Sunday’s episode, as they discover the tiles in their master ensuite bathroom had not been glued on properly and would all have to be ripped off.

Not only that, but the faulty glue would then all have to be scraped off the floor, then they would have to check that the waterproofing hadn’t been damaged, before re-laying the tiles from scratch.

The boys were gutted – and noted that they’d sacked the tilers responsible for the shoddy job.

The Block’s own master builder came to inspect the damage, noting that it was a Block first – he’d never seen a team having to restart their tiling from scratch this close to room reveal. He gave Omar and Oz some hard-to-hear advice: They should forget about even presenting a room this week, and just focus on doing the job properly.

Omar and Oz were not happy to learn they probably weren’t going to present their room to the judges.

“I think you need to forget about winning a room this week, and think more about doing this properly. You’ve got to sell this house, and we’ve got to warrant this house – and at the moment, you’re back at Wednesday again. It’s unfortunate, but it just won’t be judged this week,” he told them.

But they weren’t having it, and – with some additional manpower from Keith and Dan – they managed to get the glue off and re-lay the tiles correctly in time for the judges to inspect.

And thank goodness they did, because all three judges absolutely loved their bathroom.

Shaynna Blaze in particular could barely speak, so enamoured was she with the “upmarket country club” vibe of the room, complete with walk-through shower with bench seating inside.

Even the smallest touches were noted and praised – like Oz’s peacock origami on the toilet paper.

In a good week for all teams – the lowest scores were 23.5 – Oz and Omar sailed to another bathroom victory, with 27.5 points.
