Beauty and the Geek contestant unrecognisable after makeover
The Beauty and the Geek transformations continue – this time, spectacled, afro’d Sam emerges with a dramatic new look.
Beauty and the Geek’s second ‘geek’ underwent an extreme makeover in Sunday night’s episode of the reality series, lopping off his ‘fro for a suave new look.
Softly spoken grocery store worker Sam, 23, admitted he was nervous about losing his signature afro, which he confessed he used to hide behind.
His paired beauty, medical secretary Aida, had high hopes for his makeover: “I’m excited, but also excited to see what he looks like. He’s always casual and laid back, so I want to see him walk out and just be so confident with the way he looks,” she said.

And here he is post-makeover:
Sam appeared taken aback by his new look, confessing he was adjusting to life without his afro. He said the new haircut felt “weird as … it’s so breezy now!”
But he said the positive feedback from his fellow contestants – and host Sophie Monk, who said he looked like a long-lost Jonas Brother – made him feel “really happy … lost for words”.
Sam’s makeover comes after fellow ‘geek’ Kiran underwent the season’s first transformation last week, turning from scruffy, bearded comic book nerd to someone who, in his own words, looks like he’s “in a boy band”.

Speaking to news.com.au before the season started, Monk said this new reboot of Beauty and the Geek had more of a focus on friendship, rather than forcing romantic encounters between the contestants.
“It‘s not the stereotypes it was before, when you’d make the beauties do math, and make the geeks get spray tans. It’s not that,” she said of the show, which had been off-air since 2014.
“The challenge is about growing and bringing the best out of each other. And if they find romance, awesome, but there’s no pressure on that. If you find an awesome friendship, that you grow out of it, that’s great too.”
