Australian Ninja Warrior: Andrea Hah becomes first female to conquer the wall
ROCK climber Andrea Hah created history — and heartbreak — on Australian Ninja Warrior, becoming the first woman up the famous warped wall.
ELITE rock climber Andrea Hah created history — and heartbreak — on Australian Ninja Warrior.
Hah became the first woman to climb the warped wall in a semi-final run.
To put Hah’s feat in perspective, it took until season 6 in American Ninja Warrior for Kacy Catanzaro to achieve the same result.
“My plan was to attack the wall as explosively and aggressively as possible,” Hah told News Corp on Sunday night. “I didn’t want to over complicate it, I just needed to be faster before fatigue set in.”
However, dominance soon turned to disappointment when Hah’s foot dipped in the water near the obstacle course finish line.
Social media lit up with support for Hah, a former gymnast who now works as an exercise physiologist. She is also one of Australia’s top rock climbers.

“I was definitely disappointed to touch the water so close to the end, especially because I was feeling so good physically,” she told News Corp. “But, a tactical mistake is just as significant as a physical limitation in the Ninja Warrior course.”
She added: “I am super excited a woman completed the wall in the first season in Australia and feel fortunate I had the opportunity. Hopefully it encourages more women and girls to trust that it’s possible.”
Hah’s heartbreaking fail on Nine’s hit show followed the recent disqualification of a deaf contestant Paul Cashion.
NINJA WARRIOR: Deaf contestant Paul Cashion disqualified on technicality
Cashion was cut from the contest when his foot also touched the water.
He made it across the obstacle but didn’t hear the siren that signalled the end of his turn, moving on to the next challenge.
He only realised his shot was over after his son, Josh, caught his attention and interpreted for him.
Viewers voiced their displeasure over the incident on social media, calling for the show to give Cashion another chance.
Others called the show out on “disgraceful editing”.
