Alfie Arcuri crowned the winner of The Voice Australia
THE Voice winner has been crowned but not before an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction stole the show. WARNING: NUDITY
DESPITE only singing publicly for the first time three years ago, Sydney architect Alfie Arcuri has been crowned this year’s winner of The Voice.
Arcuri beat out fellow finalists Ellen Reed, Tash Lockhart and this season’s fan favourite Adam Ladell from Melbourne, also landing his coach, Delta Goodrem, her first winner of The Voice in Sunday night’s live decider.
The 28-year-old performed three songs throughout the night: Catapult, Beneath Your Beautiful, a duet with Delta Goodrem, and his winner’s single, Cruel, which brought the house down.
“This whole experience was always more than just singing for me,” Arcuri said. “It was a personal growth experience. Delta has been our rock, our guidance.”
Delta said of her winning contestant: “Alfie was a very special artist from the start. He has a real gift and beautiful charisma which shines every time he sings.
“I am so proud and honoured to have shared this journey with him as his coach on Team Delta and The Voice season five. I couldn’t be more proud that Australia has voted for Alfie. It’s been an incredible season, and I look forward to seeing Alfie develop as an artist who will always have my support.”

Arcuri is the second male winner of The Voice, following Harrison Craig in 2013.
Fellow Team Delta finalist and runner-up Ladell, who was diagnosed with Tourette’s syndrome at the age of 13, commented that he already felt like a winner for inspiring others with disabilities and challenging stereotypes.
Earlier in the evening, eliminated finalist Tash Lockhart suffered an unfortunate nipple slip that sent social media into a frenzy.
Wearing a yellow gown and with a guitar slung over one shoulder, the young Queenslander was focused on her post-performance interview with host Sonia Kruger and coach Ronan Keating when the embarrassing wardrobe malfunction happened — LIVE ON AIR.
“It was live TV and we hope no one was offended,” a Channel 9 spokesperson later said of the ‘Tash Flash’.
While Lockhart, Keating and Kruger remained unaware and engaged in post-performance banter, the Twittersphere went into meltdown.
“Gotta love live TV,” one user posted.
“Tash will be the only one remembered from this season but only because of the nipple slip,” wrote Sunny Mars on Twitter.

Sources say Lockhart was quickly informed of the nipslip, and her next outfit was a safer choice.
Ironically, The Voicebrought in a 30-second delay this year due to 16-year-old Adam Ladell’s Tourette’s Syndrome.
Producers at Nine took the precaution once the reality singing show went live to ensure the talented teen could take the stage without any added stress.
As the winner of The Voice, Arcuri receives the grand prize of $100,000 in cash, a new car and a recording contract with Universal Music Australia.
His new single, Cruel, will be available immediately on iTunes and all other download and streaming services from midnight, and his debut album is expected to be released on July 29 through Universal Music Australia.
