Triple M has announced who will host its new breakfast show in Melbourne, after Marty Sheargold’s shock decision to quit.

Comedian Wil Anderson, former AFL star Dale ‘Daisy’ Thomas and Triple M veteran Rosie Walton will co-host the program from Monday July 15.

The trio are only a temporary show though.

They’ll host the breakfast program through till the end of the AFL season, wrapping up on air on October 4.

Triple M will announce who will host the breakfast show in 2025 at a later date.

Wil, Daisy and Rosie will fill the void left by Sheargold, who recently announced while on holidays that he would not be returning to the breakfast show that he’d hosted since 2021.

“Taking an extended break at the end of last year has reinforced the importance of spending more quality time with my family,” Sheargold said in a statement.

“As a result, I have made the decision to prioritise self-care, maintaining a better work/life balance and will not be returning to my Triple M Breakfast show.”

Despite bailing on the breakfast show, Sheargold will still be heard nationally on the Triple M network from 3-4pm weekdays.

Who will host Triple M breakfast in 2025?

Since Sheargold’s announcement, radio insiders have been speculating about the likely contenders to host the Triple M breakfast show next year.

“I think there’s a chance that Mick Molloy will be broadcast into both Melbourne and Sydney,” Craig Bruce, a former radio executive who now hosts the Game Changers Radio: Melbourne Radio Wars podcast, told news.com.au.

“He’s loved in Melbourne.”

Molloy currently hosts the Triple M breakfast show in Sydney alongside NRL legend, Mark Geyer.

“In this current environment, one show amortised across two markets would be helpful for Southern Cross Austereo,” Mr Bruce said, referring to the company that owns Triple M.

The Game Changers host said there’s also a possibility Dave Hughes, who currently hosts the 2Day FM breakfast show in Sydney, could return to Melbourne’s airwaves.

“Dave Hughes and Ed Kavalee could be the other option,” Mr Bruce told news.com.au.

News.com.au recently conducted a poll about who should host the Triple M breakfast show next year, with Mick Molloy gaining 43 per cent of the vote.

The second most popular choice was Anthony ‘Lehmo’ Lehmann (21 per cent), followed by Eddie McGuire and fill-in host Dale Thomas (both received 14 per cent).
