Sam and Phoebe Burgess confirm they’re expecting a baby

RABBITOHS star Sam Burgess has talked publicly for the first time after it was announced he was expecting his first child with wife Phoebe.

SOURCES close to Sam and Phoebe Burgess leaked the news earlier this week, but now it’s official: the pair is expecting their first child.

The NRL star shared his excitement with Nova 96.9’s Fitzy and Wippa this morning, revealing they’re past the three-month mark and “over the moon”.

“Phoebe’s been amazing,” he said.

The Rabbitohs player told hosts Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald and Michael ‘Wippa’ Wipfli that they’re hoping to keep the sex of the baby a secret.

“I’d like to not find out, I’d like a surprise,” he said.

“It’s something we can keep for ourselves throughout this process. But we’ll wait and see, Phoebe’s running the show so I guess she’ll make the final call.”

Burgess also revealed South Sydney boss Russell Crowe has been incredibly supportive.

“We told him only a week or two again, and he was super excited.”

And he wasn’t the only one.

“You get a heap of support from everyone,” he said.

“It’s been a really special few weeks.”

Meanwhile, over at Channel Nine, his wife Phoebe was sharing the news on the Today show.

“I can’t wait. I think it’s going to be a big baby!” she joked.

“Honestly, it’s been an amazing ride and now we can share it with everyone.”

The happy news comes less than a year after the pair tied the knot at her parents’ rural property in the Southern Highlands.
