Nova breakfast show Chrissie, Sam and Browny to end after seven years
A major announcement about Project host Chrissie Swan has dropped today, raising questions about the future of her television career.
Nova has confirmed its breakfast show line-up featuring Chrissie Swan, Sam Pang and Jonathan ‘Browny’ Brown is coming to an end after seven successful years on air.
The show, which is currently the number 2FM breakfast show in Melbourne behind Gold 104.3’s Christian O’Connell Show, will end on December 2nd, with a statement citing the trio’s need to “spread their wings and try new things” as the reason behind the change.
It comes as Chrissie Swan looks to spend more time on The Project panel next year in replacement of longtime host Carrie Bickmore, who announced she is leaving the show earlier this month.
Swan also held a position as judge on The Masked Singer this year and is an ambassador for Priceline.
But her career in radio certainly isn’t over, with today’s statement confirming she won’t be leaving Nova completely when the show comes to a close.

“After 20 years on breakfast radio and with her TV career taking on new heights in 2022, Chrissie Swan will take on a fresh challenge in a new role with the Nova Network. Further details will be revealed shortly,” it said.
Swan added of the show: “I’m so proud of what we’ve achieved professionally and personally since we first met in 2015 – especially the last few years as we all kept each other afloat during the pandemic. I’m thrilled to now put a bow on the absolute gift of the Chrissie, Sam & Browny experience and am looking forward to a new adventure with Nova.”
Meanwhile, comedian Sam Pang, who stars in Channel 10’s Have You Been Paying Attention? confirmed he is leaving the Nova network.
“It’s been a privilege doing breakfast radio in my hometown,” he said.
“I’ve loved my time at Nova and I would like to thank everyone who has been involved in the show over the past seven years. I would especially like to thank the listeners for their support. It has been a wonderful experience. I’ve made some lifelong friends and feel very lucky to have worked with such an amazing team.”
Elsewhere, AFL legend Browny will continue in the Fox Footy team.
An announcement on who will replace the team will be made in the coming weeks.
Today’s announcement comes amid a shake-up in The Project line-up as Carrie Bickmore is rumoured to be jumping networks.
This week, TV Tonight reported Bickmore will be leaving Channel 10 altogether after 17 years with the network. A spokesperson told TV Tonight: “Yes, Carrie is leaving 10, but we hope to work with her again.”
Bickmore’s departure from the network supercharges speculation she could be decamping to a rival TV station.
When she announced her intentions, Bickmore choked back tears as she said: “It’s been the hardest decision of my professional life to make this call, but it’s time for a new challenge.
“I’m going to miss my best mates on the desk, the job itself which is just so incredibly fulfilling, our wonderful viewers who’ve been on the journey over the last 13 years.
“It’s no secret this show has become a second home for me and I can’t be more thankful to everyone that has been involved on and off screen.
“I’m leaving at a time that I’m so happy to be here, which feels so confusing, but I just know it’s time, I know it’s right.”
